"I don't want to be the Angel. I don't want to be Leanne Black. I don't want to be Leanne Adams."
Chapter 18. Breaking Free
I take the long way back to the dorm through the woods. Since it's still the middle of the day, and the classes are still going on, I made it to the dorm unnoticed. I just want to be alone after all that's happened. I need a break if I may just use the line.
Fortunately, nobody's in the dormitory when I start my way up. I guess no one skipped class or something. I proceed to our room and rummage my closet for clothes. I don't like these clothes I'm in. It smells that of the warehouse even though it's already been washed. I throw it away and realize that I don't have my hoodie with me and the leather jacket I have on is Seven's. I must have left mine in the Estate and Ma'am Portia thought this jacket's mine. I hang it on the coat rack and put on an oversized t-shirt and a pair of shorts. My bruises are now fading but still tender. At least I can now move freely without wincing every time.
I lay on my untouched bed and cover myself with a blanket and soon I fall asleep.
3 hours later. I guess.
"Leanne, you're back!" The cover is lifted off of me and I find Amara looking at me with eyes shining of tears, filled with worry and concern I feel like I'm that bird she found in the woods. "Oh, what happened there?" She asks pointing to the stitch in my head.
"Go away," I say covering myself back with the blanket.
She doesn't lift the cover this time. "I'm glad you're safe. I was really worried when you didn't come back that night. And then all of a sudden, we're told that you've been kidnapped. We were so worried of you. Cher, the two gangs, the whole school, Renz and Seven..."
I don't dare move. I'm sure she's just making up things.
"The DR and A7X members were too late. By the time they arrived in the gates, they already took you away. They chased the car on foot, stupid but they tried their best."
Huh. They did that?
"The school's restless," she continues. "Nobody's really paying attention to the class. It's only when we've been told that you're finally rescued did we all finally breathe properly. We wanted to know where you've been confined but they won't tell us."
"Well, at least you're back now, right?" She asks.
I still don't answer.
"Do you want to eat something? Are you hungry?"
"I'm--"
The door bursts open. I hear Amara jump in fright. The sound of his footsteps are too familiar to be ignored.
"You left without my permission?!" His voice thunders inside the room. Did he come straight here after he found out I was gone?
"Nixon Black came to take over my custody," I answer still under the blanket.
"Then why are you hiding under that blanket?!" He growls lifting the blanket and throwing it at the foot of the bed. "It's so easy for me to kill you tonight, if I want to!"
I sit up. "Can't somebody have peace after being through a rough week?!" I growl back. What is wrong with this guy?
My eyes match the intensity of his gaze. I realize he was really furious that I left. Big deal.
"I'm reorganizing my thoughts after talking to your father, I don't know what to do, to think--"
"You talked to my father?!"
