Only a few minutes out of the library and she became lost. Remmy had been too busy thinking about the creep of a man and hadn't paid attention to her feet. She wandered around the halls, not seeing another soul for quite some time. She turned a corner and finally saw someone walking towards her.
The lady was in her mid thirties and held a friendly and warm smile. Her clothes were light and airy as was her wavy voluminous hair. Remmy waited till she was closer before speaking.
"Excuse me, but I seem to be a little lost, could you tell me where my room is?"
The woman's smile deepened. "Of course! Which room are you in?"
Remmy pulled out her key card and looked at the number one the top. "Room 103"
"My, my, you are on almost the other side of the castle! How did you stray so far?"
Remmy looked down at her book and back up to the woman as they walked back the way Remmy had came. "I went to the library to find something to do to pass the time."
The woman looked down at the book and back at Remmy with a raised eyebrow. "I see you have met Dmetri."
"If you mean that creep in the library then yes, unfortunately have met him."
The woman beside her threw her head back and laughed. "Yes he can be a creep at times. Please forgive him, not all of the council act so out of turn."
Remmy's eyes grew into the size of saucers. "He's on the council?"
The woman dried her eyes and spoke while still catching her breath. "Yes dear, as am I. My name is Kerri, I'm a magical type, like you. Dmetri is an instinctual type. Don't let his creepiness fool you, he is wicked good with a sword and honest to a fault."
Remmy decided not to say anything more. She didn't want to embarrass herself further. She tried to let the conversation lull, but Kerri spoke again.
"Are you staying to watch the tournament?"
Remmy sighed. "No, I'm in it. I didn't want to let my mind plague me with anxiety and roamed the halls. I happened upon the library and found it to be just what I needed to keep my mind astray."
Kerri eyed Remmy from the side before speaking. "Oh, good luck to you. And the book is a good read." Kerri intimated to a door on their right and started to walk again. Remmy looked at the door and found it had her room number on it. She opened the door and locked it behind her. Lunch had been brought to her room and was sitting on a table for her. Remmy looked over the plates and picked a few grapes before flopping down on her bed. She pulled out her phone and texted Aldric, "Miss you."
Remmy pulled out the book and dived in. She spent the whole afternoon in the life of Holden Caulfield. Only breaking to eat or go to the bathroom.
Remmy woke with a start. The night before had caught up to her. She sat up and found she had fallen asleep on top of the covers and the book laid in her lap. She stretched and looked over to the clock. It was a little past ten at night. Remmy walked out onto the balcony and let the warm summer air ease her stiff muscles. She looked down at the pool, it's calm blue waters calling her name. She hadn't brought a swim suit and wondered if the castle had provided one. Or if maybe she had her very own Madame de La Grande Bouche. She opened the closet to find it was a walk in, full with anything a person could need, from battle gear to ball gowns and shoes for every outfit.
It didn't take her long to find a bathing suit, although she couldn't find one to her liking. They were all string bikinis, just in different colors. She picked a plum one and put it on. She grabbed a towel from the bathroom and noticed a silver door. She pushed a button to the side and it opened to a glass elevator.
"Grand indeed."
She stepped into it and found it only went to her room and down to the base floor, and it was only assessable by use of key card. She pushed the down button and looked out as the pool floated up to her. The elevator dinged and the whole side opened for her to step out.
She looked back and the elevator had closed its door but sat waiting for her return. Remmy walked over to the pool and sat her towel down, covering her belongings with it. The pool was empty and she slowly stepped into it, letting the surface tension of the water creep up her legs. The water was warm and inviting. She had gotten waist deep when she dove in and started to do some laps.
She swam until the water resistance ate at her muscles, burning them with each movement. She rolled over and floated on her back, looking at the stars. The sky was dark and clear and the stars stared back at her bright and vibrant. She sighed and let the calmness of the water ease her to her side of the pool.
Remmy got out and laid down over her towel. She looked at her phone to check the time. It was now eleven forty five and she had missed a text and call from Aldric.
"Miss you too babe. Call you when I get off work"
She decided to torture him a little and took a picture from above her head, of her body and the pool at her feet.
She knew he wouldn't respond with it being so late and decided to lay a while and air dry in the summer night warmth.
