    Remmy would never forget those words. They brought her both pleasure and pain. She looked for Aldric at all of his usual hangouts, but nothing had been touched. Remmy arranged his affairs for him while she finished her recovery. He had no other family that she knew of and none came forward. She locked up his apartment and visited it every once in a while when she could get away. She closed Walton's and bought the training facility with the money from her new position. She wanted it all to be there if he ever came back. She prayed every day that he would come back to her.

    After her recovery, and getting Aldric's final affairs in place, Remmy began her lifelong term as Ruler. Yorick had killed the whole council, and Anthony, so there was no one to refuse her. Remmy immediately reversed any laws that Yorick had forced through. It had been more than most of the realm had heard about. The more she read about what he had done, the more his twisted soul showed it's colors. He had sex slaves and whipping boys. He had turned orphanages into a sort of junior military, training them young how to fight. He mandated that poison be put into the food at soup kitchens. Remmy stopped reading after that. She delegated it out to a lower rank to make a list of all the cruelties Yorkick had inflicted.

    She made a simple doctrine to void all laws passed within the last two weeks. Remmy felt it was easier to get a fresh start instead of having to undo the damage. She would handle that as she went. It kept her busy for the first month, and that is when she decided a new council would have to be elected. Doing this all on her own had proven to be too much.

    Remmy appointed the two most trustworthy and honest people she knew. Aurora and Mack were asked to start a new council, and to elect two more people from each territory. Remmy wanted to keep the council equal, so no side showed favoritism.

    Mack decided it would be clever for a preliminary to be held in the two territories not currently represented. Aurora smiled discreetly and agreed. Remmy amended though that it would be open to all members, not just those of school age. It had gone swimmingly well. By the time of sign ups, most of the realm had heard of Remmy and what she had done. Rumors of Yorick's laws and cruelty had spread as well. Remmy gained support easily through the masses.

    It took three weeks for the new members of council to be chosen, and another month to get each one adjusted and trained for life at the castle. To celebrate the new full council, they held a ball.

    Remmy sat at the end of the room on her platform. It was almost a throne, but she didn't want to be seen like that so she ignored the thought. She had dressed elegantly, forgoing heels this time, for a pair of sparkly flats. She made sure no one would notice and kept up appearances by wearing a long ball gown that covered her feet. The din of the people and music did not overshadow her thoughts. She had come a long way to be there.

    She watched couples dance together and her heart ached. His words from his note came to her.

    Remmy,
     Our love is like a shooting star, burning brightly across the sky for all to admire. Though it may be out of view, that does not mean it no longer burns. My heart burns for you now. I will always be with you.

    Remmy sighed, and laid a hand over her lower stomach. "In more ways than one."

    I had planned on writing a second book to this, but might have gotten distracted by my others. I put a lot, and I mean a lot of hard work into this one, and it is actually the first book I have ever completed. So forgive the plot holes and whatever flaws you might find. And if you could spare a minute of your time for something that literally took all my spare time for months to create, leave me a comment on what you thought?
