Chapter 27Zoe's Pov.
"We're playing against Rangers. One of us will win and the other will lose. No matter what happens today... I just wanna say it's been a wonderful time playing with you guys and I will cherish every last moment of our last game. Now let's kick some ass!" I shout at the team and they cheer. Damon pulls me in to kiss the top of my head.
"Nice speech fireball." I nod my head and break away from him to meet up with coach Mathews.
As I get closer to coach Mathews, I see Mr.Alexander standing alongside him.
"Hey." I breath out. Coach Mathews looks up from his clip board and gives me a bright smile.
"You wanna run through the game plan one more time?" He asks with an unsure expression on his face.
I look at Mr.Alexander and he gives me an encouraging smile. I shake my head at coach.
"Nope. I've been going through the plan since I was a freshman." I let out a laugh.
"Alright. I'll let you two talk." He gestures between Colton and I. He pats me on the shoulder as he goes to talk to the team.
"You ready?" I let out a shaky breath.
"My stomach is feeling all types of things and my legs feel kind of numb, but I'm ready." I laugh out. He puts his hands on both of my shoulders.
"Trust me, I felt the exact same way. Just breathe in. Breathe out." I take a big gulp of air and then release it , feeling so much better about myself.
"What if we lose?" He turns towards me and shakes his head.
"You won't" He spoke as if he was 110% sure.
"How do you know that." He gave me smile and shook my shoulders a little.
"Because you're the quarterback and that's all that matters." I nod my head and turn towards my team. As I scanned over my whole team everything began to fall into place. I could see a smiling Jake who was currently wrestling with Brandon, I could see Mason, the most funniest guy of the group. Nick, the one that was always there for anyone in the group. Alex and Joe, who had their game faces on and were practicing their tackling. Kaden and Jayden the two twins that always made my day brighter and Adam, the one who was like a big brother to me as well as Brandon. And of course my main man Damon.
The one I planned to spend forever with.
"Okay guys, let's kick some Ranger ass!" I ran to the bench to pick up my helmet and then ran to the field. The crowd was roaring and I could see the smiles on everyone's faces who were cheering for us.
"Yasss Zoe! Represent!" Mason snaps his fingers in a 'Z' formation. I let out a laugh as I strap on my helmet.
I could see the Rangers' quarterback. He shot me a smile and a thumbs up for good luck. I returned the smile. Believe it or not, but I was actually thankful for playing against the Rangers because Cole and I were actually good friends now.
So I wouldn't have to worry about him cheating like so many other quarterbacks had done. I remembered the days when the boys would be totally sexist towards me for being the quarterback and they would call me a "dick" or a "faggot."
Why they did that, I will never know.
The referee stepped in the middle of the field.
"Quarterbacks, shake hands." I walked up to Cole and shook his hand. He gave me a wink and I let out a small chuckle.
