JJ and Kiara have moved into a house of their own, and JJ has trouble sleeping. I wrote the first half of this so long ago and promised a part two (that i forgot about...) anyway here it is twins and twinnetes!! Im working on the other ones guys i js low key started them all at once like an idiot 😭

JJ's slumber lasted about twenty minutes. Twenty minutes of the stormy torrent within his dreams. Beneath his eyes, Luke was raging louder than ever. He could hear each insult, and feel each blow to his ribs and sides. Despite the fact that he was asleep, the pain felt incredibly real. He'd thrash in his sleep, effectively waking Kiara in the process.

She didn't understand what was going on at first. Her eyes opened for a moment, then closed as she tried to resume the night. Then he'd move again, this time more of a flinch, eerily close to the way one would move to dodge a threat. She sat up, watching.

"J?" She'd whispered. His eyes were screwed shut so tight it looked like it might hurt. Kiara shook his shoulders once, and he let out a wounded sound.

"JJ! Wake up!"

Finally, JJ's eyes shot open, dilated and afraid. He sat up, looking around himself before registering his new shared bedroom. Then he saw Kiara and the horrified look on her face. He looked down next. "Goddamn it."

The feeling in his chest rose then, quieting him. As if that wasn't bad enough, the pain in his sides returned and now he was afraid. His skin felt clammy beneath the sheets well before his hand made it to his chest. He was too hot.

"JJ, what's going on?" She tried to ask, though it sounded muffled against his thoughts.

He pulled his shirt over his head, and discarded it to the left of the mattress. Then he left the bed without answering her. His foot steps padded softly against the floor as he moved. She was incredulous, thinking for a moment whether or not she should follow. He didn't just look afraid, he looked violent. For all she knew, he could still be stuck in fight or flight.

Still, she left the bedroom to find him. Her bathrobe draped just above the floor as she searched the house. A few minutes later, she noticed he'd left the the sliding glass door open, allowing the night breeze to leak throughout the house. Boxes littered the living room and kitchen, and she navigated through them with ease before she saw him outside on a wooden bench facing the beach.

That was her favorite part about the house. It was so close to the water. That was JJ's dream. She found him pleading for solace in the way the waves moved. It was interesting how something so moving was what grounded him in his hardship. Kie waited a moment by the door before gliding past him toward the balcony.

"Baby..." She said in that voice that always made him cave. "Come see."

JJ obeyed, standing to trudge up to her. His head laid on her shoulder just as she reached her hand up into his hair. The sound that came from his throat was so guttural, she thought it may have been a moan. He was exhausted, leaning into her for support as if her hands could cure the disease in his head.

"Do you want to talk about it?" She whispered, moving toward his back. His body ceased its trembling the more she worked.

"Yes." He admitted. "I'm sorry."

She shook her head. He knew what that meant. Don't apologize. She understands. Everything is fine. Relax.

"It's too fucking quiet." He said timidly. "Shit scares me. Like nothing can... can ever be completely okay for too long."

Kiara looked back at the house. "You mean because it's new...?" She tried to comprehend. "Because it's safe?"

"I guess." The Maybank sighed. "Yes..."

The night sky was warm, allowing a cool breeze to sweep mist over the two. His blonde hair was the slightest bit sweaty, sticking to his face in various places he paid absolutely no mind to.

"It's fine." He said quickly after that. "I can handle it... adjust, I mean."

"You shouldn't have to..." She held him closer, moving to hug him properly.

He sighed lowly, which sent shivers down her back. That was about when JJ decided he'd had enough of the pity party. He pulled away, calming down just enough to realize he was very much so starting to feel cold.

"Can we go back inside now?"

She nodded. "I'll make you some hot chocolate, and we can watch a movie. Maybe keep one on in the background while you fall asleep?"

The idea sounded warm and fuzzy, so he agreed, momentarily letting a smile take over his features. The next thing he said came without much warning.

"I love you, Kie."

She turned around rather quickly. JJ didn't say it too often, but when he did say it, he really meant it.

"I love you, baby." She said back, creating crimson on his cheeks all over again.

Just as she said, a can of swiss miss was sitting on the counter for him. He sat down at the marble island in their home and she started to heat up some milk in a pot. It didn't take long before she was mixing it with extra chocolate just for him. JJ didn't expect whipped cream, but he was overjoyed to find it in the cup already.

For some reason, it made him want to cry again. She was so sweet, so careful, so calm, so collected... He couldn't fathom that this could genuinely be the rest of his life. The way in which she treated him was something he'd never experienced before. The fact that it was a given made it seem so mundane.

So when she turned the movie back on, he pulled her closer to plant a kiss on his lips. He could definitely get used to this house.
