Samantha's cheerful voice echoed down the hallway as she walked Annie through every single detail of her conversation with Dylan at lunch. Victoria sat at the kitchen island, a fresh mug of herbal tea steaming softly beside her as she flipped through the stack of suspect profiles Lieutenant Goffin had forwarded from West District.
Her finger traced down a list of certified high-voltage technicians and former vault mechanics when her phone vibrated against the wooden countertop.
A quick glance at the screen brought a soft, automatic smile to her lips.
Marcus: "Hey Victoria. Hope you managed to catch some good sleep today. I know you still have three night shifts left, but I was wondering if you'd be free for dinner or a quiet coffee once your five-block is finished? No pressure, just wanted to check in."

At 19:30, Victoria stepped off the precinct elevator into the bustling basement lab. The atmosphere was charged with focused energy; the team was closing in on their suspect.
Kelly was at the trace table re-checking the chemical purity levels of the recovered refrigerant, while Steven had his dual monitors displaying a map of the West District's commercial sector. Alan stood at the main glass whiteboard, writing out a timeline of the three past vault burglaries.

​"Exactly," Alan nodded. "Goffin is securing a search warrant for Mercer's workshop in the industrial park right now. We move in as soon as the judge signs off."
Victoria smiled, her eyes gleaming with the quiet thrill of a case coming together. "Let's go gather the evidence."

The raid on Julian Mercer's unit in the Westside Industrial Park was executed at 22:45. Rather than a chaotic breach, it was a precise forensic containment. Once SWAT cleared the concrete bay, Victoria, Alan, and Kelly stepped past the threshold with their field kits, portable crime lights, and evidence cameras.

"Precisely," Victoria said, sealing the bag with yellow evidence tape and signing her initials across the border. Alan nodded, taking a step back as Kelly began photographing the serial numbers on Mercer's specialized press.
"Meticulous work, Vic," Alan said smoothly, though his eyes lingered on her for a fraction of a second longer than purely professional interest demanded. He tucked his hands into his coat pockets. "With this trace trail, Goffin's team has Mercer locked in a box he can't acoustic-shatter his way out of."
"The physical evidence never lies," Victoria replied calmly, packing her loupe into her kit and zipping it shut. "It just waits for someone to measure it."
