Abigail had been gone for three hours. When hour three rolled by I stood from one of the couches in the living room and went to walk to the front door. It opened with a click before I could reach it and I stopped in my tracks when it opened to reveal Abigail.

She had a pink color to her tan cheeks and sweat matted a few loose strands to the side of her face. Her eyes met mine, but only for a split second before she walked past me and upstairs. She was still pissed and anger was radiating from her body.

I let out a tired groan and scratched at the back of my neck and looked upstairs. I'd have to talk to her sometime, it might as well be now.

I slowly ascended the strairs and walked down the hall that led to the master bedroom. I walked inside to find that Abigail had changed into a pair of shorts that looked like they had been made out of a bandana and a black shirt. She turned around while she was brushing her hair and cast me a quick glance before looking elsewhere.

"Listen, I--" I started to say but Abigail cut me off.

"I need my phone and equipment" She said in a blunt tone."I can't do my job if I'm just walking around looking like a knocked up housewife." I rubbed the back of my neck  and cleared my throat.

"Briggs has a few of your things in the closet. He didn't bring any of your weapons." I said and she disappeared into the closet. She walked back into the room carrying a laptop case and her cellphone and charger.

"Briggs went through my phone and laptop, didn't he?" She questioned accusingly.

"Yes and he took the liberty of putting my number and his in your phone." I said truthfully. It's what I would have done. I'm sure Briggs searched through every crack and corner of information on her laptop and phone. She made a noise of disapproval in the back of her throat then walked past me and down the hall towards the stairs. I sighed and walked after her.

"Hey, look, I shouldn't have said those things about you. I'm sorry." I called after her as I followed her down the stairs.

"You have your right to your own opinion, but you should have kept it to yourself. And, you're not sorry. You're sorry that I heard you and that's about it. I'd watch it if I were you, you wouldn't want to get too close because some of my trash and scum might get on you." Abigail said without looking back and I stopped at the bottom of the stairs to watch her walk into the living room.

"Shit." I grumbled. She wasn't going to forget this or get over it. It was understandable, but we had a job to do. I had a job to do despite having been partnered with that girl.

I typed in the address along with the name Redmoore and a nice looking family with a daughter popped up. It must have just been a curious little girl. I closed my laptop and reached for my phone on the couch. I scrolled through the contact list until I came to Ignacio's name.

It rang three times before he finally answered. "Esa," he called out loudly from the other end,"waz happening?"

"I'm going to the big pen if I don't help bring in Dominic Cortez for them. I need your help Ig, these gringos don't know what they're doing." I explained.

"Aye nina, you're in deep. Cortez is not a snake you want to go after." Ignacio said.

"I know, but these gringos think that Cortez is just going to walk in. I need to know if Cortez is dealing here or if anything is going on at all." I continued.

"Nina, I have the magic touch, but I don't know about this. You should have called Eduardo instead." Ignacio explained.

    "No, Eduardo wouldn't help me."

"Si, he would. He miss you. He would help you."

"I'm not asking him, I'm asking you. Can you help me or not?"

"You know I can't say no to you. I will see what I can do."

    "Thanks Ig."

"No prob' nina." He ends the call and I slide the phone into the back pocket of my shorts. Ignacio was smart and was the only person I kept in touch with after I left the gang. He felt betrayed, yet we were still family.

"Who was that?" Ranger's voice filled the living room and I looked up to see him standing beside the couch that I was sitting on.
"None of your damn business." I spat out.

    "Listen this--"

"No, you listen, puta." I said and pushed myself up from the couch. I forgot about the added weight and started to tip forward due to my loss of balance. Ranger took a firm hold of my elbow to steady me and I shook off his hand.

"We may come from two different worlds, but you are not better than me. I do what I have to do to survive even if it means killing people. You, you kill people and do other people's dirty work behind the safety of a badge. You do your job and I'll do mine." I said and watched his face remain hard as stone. I grabbed my laptop and phone and stomped up the stairs. It was time I got to work.
