"I loved her, but the dark side of her, any girl can play innocent, but her demons are what drove me wild, her secrets, her pain, her darkness, that's what made me love her."

"RANGER, STOP!" I yelled over the sound of Ranger ramming his fist into Eduardo's face while fisting his shirt in his hand to keep him in place against the wall. Eduardo's boys pulled glocks from their pants pointing them at Ranger's back ready to let the bullets fly at Eduardo's command.

"Stop it!" I pleaded with Ranger and yanked on his muscular arm that was raising to slam once again into Eduardo's bleeding face. Ranger pulled back reluctantly letting Eduardo go only for Eduardo to fall to the ground then stagger to his feet and yank a gun from the waistband of his pants. The gun was lined up with Ranger's face and I could tell by the hard look on Eduardo's face that he was, without a doubt, about to pull the trigger.

"Eduardo, no! Put your gun down!" I shouted and stood in front of Ranger feeling him grab my hip and attempt to push me behind him. I forced him to stand behind me all while keeping my eyes on Eduardo's blood dripping face.

"Move, Abi." Eduardo spoke through his blood stained, clenched teeth."I'm going to shoot this f.ucking puto."

"No, él es mi marido[He's my husband]!" El es mi marido!" I frantically shouted in a desperate attempt to save Ranger's life. He had gone onto Eduardo's territory and disrespected him far past the point of Eduardo allowing him to leave with his life. Ranger was a dead man if I couldn't convince Eduardo to let him live. I shouldn't had let him come, that's why I felt I had to fix this.

"¿Tu marido?" Eduardo asked in harsh disbelief, but still did not lower his gun.

"." I replied and held my breath waiting for Eduardo's reaction. Ranger's hand that still lay on my waist tightened when Eduardo lowered his gun and took a step closer.

"I see no ring on your finger, mi amor." Eduardo said pointedly. Shit.

"It was a quickie wedding," I added trying to remain confident.

"You leave me and then come back only to bring this man with you who you say is your husband? A gringo, Abi? A f.ucking gringo?" Eduardo asked with his heavy accent laced behind every word.

" Sí." I answered. Eduardo spat a wad of blood and saliva onto the ground then looked back at me with his hard, dark eyes.

"I don't believe you, Abi," He said lowly with a small shake of his head. Shit. Ranger was going to die. Eduardo was going to kill him for sure. Feeling desperate knowing that Eduardo would kill Ranger, I did the only thing that came to mind...I kissed him.

I moved around to face Ranger and placed my hand behind his head winding it in his soft hair to crash his lips down to mine. I moved my lips feverishly against his making it look believable that I was passionately and madly in love with him.

Ranger was too stunned to do anything as I kissed him like a crazy bitch, but I soon felt him lean into the kiss and place one hand on my back drawing me closer to his warm body. When his lips began to move against mine, I felt my entire body ignite with heat. His tongue thrust into my mouth exploring it and I became the one taken by suprise.

"That's enough!" Eduardo said and I quickly pulled my now damp lips away from Ranger's to turn around and face Eduardo.

"He is my husband, Eduardo, and I won't let you shoot him." I said firmly and slightly out of breath.

"You don't come here and tell me what to do. You don't come here and expect me not to do something when that puto disrespects me in my own place!" Eduardo was clearly livid and that was one of the most terrifying things anyone could ever see.
