Lucas approached Maya at her locker
"Hey gorgeous". Lucas smiled
"Hi babe". Maya kissed him
"You'll never guess who sent me a letter". Lucas scoffed
"Who"? Maya asked
"Missy". Lucas said
"WHAT"?!?! Maya's eyes widened "But she's in jail"!
"Apparently they let them send letters". Lucas shrugged
"What'd she say"? Maya raised an eyebrow
Lucas handed her the letter
Dear Lukey Pookey,
I miss you so much baby. Don't worry, it will all work out. I'll break out of here and we can start our lives together. We can move to China and have triplets with monkey butlers. I love you and I'll see you soon. Xoxo, Missy aka roast beef
"What the actual fuck". Maya chuckled
"I honestly think she's going mentally insane". Lucas threw away the letter
"No shit". Maya scoffed
Suddenly the bell rang
"Okay, I'll see you at lunch babe". Lucas began to walk to his next class

Maya was in the middle of class when she got a text
Lucas : Hi princess
Maya giggled and texted back
Maya : aren't you supposed to be in class lol
Lucas : fuck my education
Maya : goodluck graduating lmao
Lucas : graduation is only 2 months away. Nothing we do matters anymore
Maya : Wanna hang out after school
Lucas : of course. We can go to the skating rink
Maya : Lucas you know I suck at ice skating
Lucas : exactly
Suddenly the bell rang
6 HOURS LATER
Maya and Lucas walked up the sidewalk
"We''l meet at the ice skating rink in 2 hours". Maya nodded
"Mkay". Lucas smirked "I'll pick you up".
Lucas gave Maya a goodbye kiss before she went up the stares to her apartment building
She picked up the mail and sat on the couch, then turned on the tv
The news was on, they were talking about some guy who committed suicide inside the statue of liberty
Maya went through all the mail, which was mostly coupons and shit. But she came across this one letter
To : Mia Hart
From : You're father, Kermit Clutterbucket
"Shit". Maya whispered
Dear Maya, by the time you're reading this, I'll be dead. I committed suicide, and if my plans went well, I committed suicide inside the statue of liberty
Maya broke down in tears, realizing her father was the man they were talking about on the news
Maya went back to the letter, sobbing, she read as she listened to the tv
I'm sorry I never got to be the father you deserve. But you don't deserve a low end father like me. Word around town says you're mothers a stripper and is sleeping with a different guy every night. I'm sorry. I went to the strip club to talk to her. She was drunk, she said she goes home once every month or so, and when she does you're not home. I hope you're not depressed or anything. I hope you've found amazing friends and possibly a boyfriend. If you do have a boyfriend, make sure he takes care of you, make sure that he respects you, make sure he would never hurt you. The other day I was driving around town. I swear I seen you. Of course I don't know what you look like, but...I seen a teenage version of you're mother. Anyways, if it was you, you were holding hands with a boy, you looked really happy. He's a keeper. Don't let this keep you from moving on with you're life. Forget about me. Go have fun with you're friends and you're boy. Go have the time of you're life and have no regrets. Love, dad
Maya sat there sobbing
She ran to the bathroom and viciously dragged her blades across her wrists
Maya ran around the house sobbing as her wrists bleed
She felt as if she were going insane
She ran to her mothers room and shuffled through her dresser until she found a pistol
She slid down the living room wall and sobbed
She sat their staring at the gun
Lucas walked in
He just stood their and stared at her
"So we're back to this again". Lucas sighed
"Read the note". Maya gulped
Lucas picked the letter up off the couch and read it
"Maya I'm sorry". Lucas said
Maya began to cry hysterically "There's nothing here for me anymore! Where am I..how am I...I can't even"!
"Maya just breathe". Lucas pursed his lips
"There's nothing left for me"! Maya cried
"Are you talking about you're dad"? Lucas asked
Maya nodded
"Maya, even when he was here, he wasn't here for you. He was a loser. He didn't even try to get to know he. He's never even met you nor does he know what you look like. I'm surprised he even knew you're name, he spelt it wrong on the letter. He doesn't deserve you tears. Everybody who loves and cares about you, is right here in New York, why would you leave. I know this might be to soon but, don't you wanna go to college together, get married, and have kids. Cause thats all I want. You are doing so good, you were so happy-
Maya cut Lucas off "The happiest people are the most damaged".
"Maya, you can't give up here, not now. You have a life ahead of you. You were made for a reason you just haven't found it yet".
Maya good the pistol and held it to her head
"NOO"!! Lucas yelled and rushed towards her
He tried to get the gun out of her hands
"MAYA STOP"! Lucas screamed
He finally fought the gun out of her hands and threw it across the room
He wrapped is arms around Maya and held her
You'd think that it would be Maya crying. But no.
Maya just sat there, breathing heavily
Lucas sobbed on her shoulder
"I don't want you to go anywhere". Lucas held her tighter
Maya sat their in shock, then she finally accepted Lucas's hold and wrapped her arms around him
"I'm sorry". Maya said softly
