Danny's POV

Waking up to silence after being woken from a nightmare is never the best thing. I frantically searched for Vlad or Jazz but I found no one in the room. The door was even closed. Stumbling out of the bed, I practically yanked the door open before heading down to Jazz's room, keeping to the wall in case my legs decided to give out. That's odd, her door's open. But no one's there.

What if they left me? What if they didn't want to deal with a freak like me and decided to just flee in the middle on the night? Oh no, they're going to let them come get me. They're going to let me be subjected to experiments like they did in my nightmare. No, I won't let them! I need to escape while I can.

"Daniel? What's wrong?" I froze at the new voice, only to slowly be turned around by gentle hands on my shoulders. Before me I found Vlad looking down at me with a concerned look. He didn't leave me?

"Where were you?" I flinched, surprised at how vulnerable my voice was. "Why did you leave?" Vlad's expression seemed to fall at this, clearly knowing something I didn't. "What happened? Where's Jazz?"

"After I had calmed you down from the nightmare, I was surprised that your sister had not made an appearance. So I went to look for her. She was unconscious in her room with a faint heartbeat so I rushed her to the hospital. I made sure she was taken care of and had the necessary paperwork completed before returning here, only to find you curled up here in the hall. What were you thinking little badger?" I shook my head at his question, not too keen on explaining my fear to him at this moment.

"When can we see her?" I ask instead, feeling completely void of any thought or emotion.

"As soon as you're dressed," he muttered gently and I nodded before turning around and limping back into my room.

Venturing into the dresser, I was honestly a bit surprised to find clothing in there that actually fit me. Eventually I found a pair of dark jeans and a black long sleeve shirt that seemed to be close to my side. As I carefully unclothed, I almost bit off my tongue at the pain coursing through my veins. The pain eventually became unbearable once I finished slipping on the fresh jeans, having to sit on the edge of the bed to catch my breath.

"Vlad!" I called and almost immediately the door opened and he came in. Freaky.

"What's wrong little badger?" His voice was full of concern as he came over, eyeing the tears threatening to fall down my face.

"I can't move. I need help with my shirt," I admitted softly, only for him to sigh softly with a shake of his head as he came over and kneeled before me, taking the fresh shirt in his hands. Once I had my shirt on we headed straight to the hospital.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Literally the second we walked into the hospital, a nurse approached us and directed us to Jazz's room. Stepping up to the closed door in the rather silent hall, I couldn't help but rush in and through the too white room to my sister's side. Taking her hand in my own, my concern spiked at how cold her hands were. Funny, she could be asleep right now, if not for the heart monitor being the only sound in the room. Well, that and the dark bruises around her collar bone and head.
"What happened to her?" I question softly, glancing up at the doctor who had walked in after us. He had a saddened expression in his eyes which caused me to frown, knowing nothing good was about to come out of his mouth.
"Because of her injuries, specifically near her brain and heart, those organs were in fact damaged. Her heart could no longer pump her blood throughout her body while there happened to be spotting of blood around her brain. We are keeping a close eye on her but it seems as though she has fallen into a coma. I am terribly sorry for what has happened," he explained in a professional tone and I tensed, turning my attention back down to my sister as the doctor swiftly left the room.
Black dots creeped up into my vision and the world moved around me until everything stopped and I found myself sitting in a chair beside the bed Jazz was currently in. Glancing to my left, I found Vlad standing near me with a gentle hand on my shoulder, silently telling me that I have to go easy on myself because of what happened.
Reaching back up, I gripped Jazz's hand a bit tighter as my vision clouded, a single tear slowly slipping down my face.
"You can't leave me Jazz. I need you," I whispered out, my voice breaking here and there as I spoke. "Don't you dare leave me Jasmine. I won't survive without you. You're my only blood family that I have left that accepts me for me. Please don't leave me--" I broke off, my breathing getting heavier as it self like something was squeezing all the air out of my lungs. A pair of strong arms wrapped around my shoulders and held me close, my mind barely registering that it was Vlad who was holding me. And for some weird reason he was actually comforting me.
Then the door opened and the last people I expected to show stepped into the room.
