Chapter 4 ~ New

So sorry this took forever to rewrite. I am writing way too many stories with so little time. I definitely fixed up Sam's reaction to hearing what happened to Danny and Jazz for those of you who commented on that part. 

Jazz's POV~

When I closed the door leading to Danny's room, I felt my heart crumble as I heard my baby brothers sobs echo from within his room and easily out into the otherwise silent hall. When I looked to Vlad, I noticed something I never thought I would see from him. In his eyes held obvious hurt and protectiveness. Something I never thought Vlad could even possess after everything hes done to Danny.

"Why did you save us?" I ask quietly, crossing my arms as I watched the man, cautious for any hints that might suggest that he's faking all of this or he's trying to trick Danny and I. I need to protect Danny and based on past experiences, we shouldn't trust Vlad so easily, no matter how convincing he may seem.

"Because as much as I act like I hate your brother, I view him as my own son. And I know that if I didn't save you in time, he would never forgive himself and tear him up from my mistakes. He would blame himself if that happened and in the condition that he is in now, he cant survive that kind of ordeal. You are his only family left, Jasmine, and he needs his sister. He needs you. Daniel would be so lost without you, and I could never bare to watch him go through that and not have him trust me enough to let me lessen what he's going through," he paused, looking down to the floor with an ashamed and guilt stricken expression. "If you would follow me, Ill show you to your room so you can contact Daniels friends."

I silently followed Vlad with curiosity, never having seen this side of him before. After walking down the hall only for a few seconds, we stopped at a door literally right next to Danny's room. As I entered the room, I quietly thanked Vlad before closing the door behind me and pull out my phone, quickly dialing Sam's number first. Sitting on the bed, I listened as the phone rang a couple times before it was picked up.

"Hey Jazz, what's up?" Sam asks me as a greeting and I took in a shaky breath, knowing how much Danny meant to her and how worried shell be after I tell her.

"Something happened. Something major. Danny decided to tell our parents the truth last night and they turned on him. I thought they had been completely weaponless before we even started the conversation but turns out, they had guns hidden under the couch. Long story short, both Danny and I were hurt last night and are at Vlad's mansion. But you dont have to worry about Vlad, he seems pretty shaken up about this whole thing as well," I explained quickly, at some point getting up from the bed to pace back and forth in the free space in the room.

"Oh my gosh is he okay?! What happened?! How hurt are you two?! Never mind, Tucker and I will be there as soon as we can. Thanks for letting me know," Sam practically shouted before hanging up and I couldn't help but feel grateful at the concern and protectiveness that was in Sam's voice before she hung up.

A terrifyingly painful scream sliced through the air as I slipped my phone back in my pocket. In an instant I recognized the scream as Danny's but when I had rushed out of my room and down the hall, I slowly came to a stop when I found the door already wide opened. There, in the room with my little brother, was Vlad who was holding Danny in his arms both carefully and protectively, making me smile slightly at the sight. It was weird at first, seeing Vlad all fatherly and concerned over Danny and I but seeing him calm my little brother down from a nightmare confirmed that Vlad could be trusted. Or at least, I trust him.

Walking forward in silence, I slowly sat on the bed next to Vlad and Danny before wrapping my arms around my brother as well, laying my head on top of his while he curled up between Vlad and I both. It was then that I noticed how badly he was shaking and how light he actually was. Oh Danny, why did this life have to be given to you?
