Chapter 23

Third Person's POV

Gray went outside of the Lockser's house, thinking it was the best place to answer the call..

As soon as he press his answer button, a shaking cracked voice of Natsu was heard on the other line..

"STING?! STING?! WHERE ARE YOU??!"

"Uh.. i-its Gray.."

Gray's eyebrows narrows after hearing Natsu.. he could hear him breathing uneasy and trying his best to swallow the lump from his throat to straighten his voice, yet it failed cause Natsu's voice was all messed up..

"G-gray.. I need you..."

Natsu sounded so helpless that made Gray speechless and confused..

"Okay.. tell me where you are?"

Gray tried to made his voice sound calm eventhough deep inside him he was worried..

"I.. I live at 131 firezone street.."

"Okay.. I'll be there in a minute.."

"Please.. hurry.."

Gray ended the call.. then he went inside and interrupted everyone's business at the dining hall..

"Mom can I borrow your car?"

Actually Gray and Lyon already have a car but Lyon crashed it on some random house and now it was on repairs..

Her mom was all confused from Gray's sudden request.. well everyone was.. but Gray didnt bother and beg to her mother to give her the keys of her car.. after a few minutes of convincing her, Ur finally give up and handed him the keys, sensing that it might be something important..

"Okay.. just dont crash it.."

Gray smiled as he grabs the keys from her mom's hand.. he wave goodbye to everyone from the house and run to their house where the car was parking at their garage.. The Lockser house was just three blocks away from their house.. Gray heavily panted and turn on his mother's car..

He was carefully driving it all the way to where Natsu's address.. when he arrive, he just realized that he doesnt know what does Natsu's house look like..

Gray facepalm from his stupidness and went out of the car.. Judging from the street, it was practically quiet.. Gray went to the first house that catches his attention, well it was a small apartment and randomly opening someone's house was known to be rude but to Gray it was really his luck to find the door unlocked.. he quietly tiptoed his way to the living room, realizing he looked like a complete burglar from what he was doing.. and just his lucky guess when he saw Natsu lying on the corner of the living room, all curled up into a ball, his hands were covering his face as he tries to hold back his tears but it was useless cause they just continued flowing down to his cheecks to the floor.. Gray also noticed Natsu's uncontrollable shaking of his body like it was shivering with such fear..

When he slowly walks his way to where Natsu was, two cats suddenly appeared infront of him.. They were hissing at him, their furs were all raised up, the cats claws were seen and anytime they can attacked Gray.

Gray froze from where he was standing, giving distance from the two cats that were protecting the defenseless Natsu from the mere stranger that went inside the house..

After a few minutes, Natsu finally realize that there was someone inside the house.. he gathered up his strength and tried to hold back his sobs..

"Sting...??"

"Its Gray.."

Gray said with a hinch of irritation from his tone, he wasnt really that sure why he suddenly became irritated.. maybe it was because Natsu was expecting someone else.? He saw Natsu's face became all confused like he completely forgotten that he was the one that called Gray,  that made Gray more irritated.. he was ready to walk his way to the door when Natsu grab the end of his shirt that causes him to stop..  (A/N : "I know its so cliche, but its really effective")

Gray turns around to see Natsu's glistening black eyes begging for him to stay.. and by that simple gesture had cause Gray to stay with him.. he sigh and kneels down to the pinkette and gently patted his head..

"Okay.. but I'm not sitting on the floor.."

Natsu realized the message and stands up and leds Gray to the sofa.. the two cats followed and sat beside Natsu's other side, they were still in defence mode.. and Gray could feel the two cats glaring at him and his presence but he quickly brush it off and convince himself that he was just imagining things..

Natsu turns on the TV and some random movie was being played. Gray was trying his best to keep his composure since none of them were talking and it was causing him to feel a bit awkward..

"I'm really sorry to bother you.."

Natsu finally said and looked at him, Gray noticed Natsu's slighlty puffy and red eyes staring at him... Gray swallowed the lump from his throat and acts all calm..

"Its okay.. dinner was boring anyways.."

"My brother wont be back until 9:00, is it okay for you stay that late?"

"Sure.. no problem.."

"Thank you"

Natsu smiled and Gray smiled back, then he realized that the young pinkette has finally become calm and stable knowing that he was no longer alone.. then they went back on watching the movie..

Gray turn his head to see the wall clock to check the time.. it was still 8:00, then he saw Natsu has fallen asleep as he rested his head on the sofa.. even the two cats fell asleep on the other side..Gray smiled and then carefully placed Natsu's head on his lap.. he wasnt sure why he just did that, maybe because he looked uncomfortable from his position..

Gray gently wipes off the remaining tears from Natsu's face and brushes his fingers on Natsu's soft and pink hair.. then a sad smile had form on his lips as he stares on the pinkette's face, he wanted to help him but he doesnt know how.. Juvia's advice was still ringing on his mind, so he was trying his best to wait for Natsu to open up to him... 

It bothers him a lot for his emotions were all mixing inside him.. He was feeling curious, worried, confused, and at the same time useless.. his friend was in trouble and he wasnt able to help him.. Knowing to the fact that Natsu's life was all messed up.. then he realize he doesnt even know the half of his story

Gray heavily sigh then blankly stares at the movie they were watching earlier..
