Chapter 29

A/N : "Thank you so much for continually reading my fanfic cause I just noticed I made a bad start in my story. I mean, the following 25 chapters are short and not to mention a lot of typos were found in each chapters, so I'm trying to make it up to you guys by making the chapters long as I can, (starting from chapter 26) also by improving my vocabulary in english to prevent or atleast prevent as much as typo errors as possible. And I think I'm gonna use 'the magic wonders of time skips' from now on cause I just realize that its gonna take me a while to finish this if I continued explaining everything that will happened to them each day. Third Person's POV

Gray's eyes shot open as he hurriedly flew his body straight to a nearby wall. He was catching his breath and holding his stinging red cheek.

He was shock to death!

His eyes then saw the pinkette dragonslayer, he has a frown on his face. Gray has the suspected that it was Natsu who slapped his cheeks, but he was too busy calming his racing heart and controlling his breath to ask Natsu why the hell did he just did that?

Natsu on the other hand was rather amused to what he just did, though he didn't show it. He just hid it with a frown to which just adds up more confusion to the ice mage.

"Hurry up Gray! I wanna go home ..." Natsu monotone-ly said then he started walking out to the door.

It took Gray a couple of minutes to snap his senses back to reality then he hurriedly took his things and rush his way out to the door.

Natsu was already at the school's large gate, tapping his foot impatiently as he waits for Gray to catch up with him. When he finally saw the ice mage running, his heart beats abnormally due to the building up anxiety and confusion inside his system.

Gray's cheek was still a bit red and that confusion in his eyes was still there. Natsu choke up his words and was gonna walk away again when Gray grabs hold of his arm. Natsu's heart almost jump out of his rib cage when Gray touched him.

"Don't you think of running away without giving me an answer!" Gray's tone sounded irritated but he trying his best to understand the situation.

"I.. I ... " Natsu swallowed the building lump in his throat. He completely knew what Gray was talking about.

Was he really willing to help a hopeless idiot like him?

Will he still stay the same after all of this?

The silence of Natsu has cause Gray's eyes to soften. He heave out a sigh of frustration and surrender, he then let go of Natsu's arm.

"Okay.. lets try this again.." Gray calmly said and tries his best to make Natsu look at him in the eyes. Natsu manage to look at him, with confusion visible on his expression.

"What's holding you back?" Gray stated that has cause Natsu eyes to widen like golf balls.

"W-what d-do y-you mean?" Natsu swallowed hard and starting to sweat, knowing to well where this conversation might lead to.

"Do I have to spell it out? You know it's really quiet obvious what that means.. 'what's holding you back?' Don't you even realize that I can't stop thinking about you. Natsu, I want to help."

Gray stated the last part too bluntly, though the ice mage didn't know is that those words he just said has made Natsu's fast beating heart to almost explode!

Natsu's mind started swirling. Confusion, anxiety, and stress wasn't really a good combination inside him. He feel like he was gonna throw up but he manage to look okay and not affected by Gray's words.

"Y-you w-wont u-understand!" The best excuse Natsu could thought to escape the question.

"Try me!" Gray sternly said with such determination and willingness in his eyes.

Natsu swallowed the each building lump in his throat. What's holding him back? ofcourse he already knew the answer. It was himself! Not all people just accept his true identity. Even his own dad abandoned him because of that.

What will Gray do if Natsu answer his question?

Will he avoid him?

Will he get mad?

It will be his fault! He was so eager to know, so there's no reason for him to get mad if he found out who I really am.. right?

Natsu was battling an internal conversation to himself if he was willing to tell Gray what was holding him back.

"Natsu..." Gray tap Natsu's shoulder, looking concern since the dragonslayer has been silent for too long. "I know this is all of a sudden and I can't just force you to tell me everything but I just.. I don't know.. I just can't stop thinking about you.. please Natsu, please let me in.."

Gray sounded frustrated yet calmness was still in his voice. Natsu's heart was starting to melt with those ocean blue eyes looking at him so calmly.

Natsu heave out a sigh and look at those blue eyes once more. "Fine, I'll tell you what's holding me back." he smiled at Gray but his own eyes reflected sadness in it, knowing that once he told Gray about his secret, Gray will start avoiding him just like everyone else.

Gray had a wide grin on his face, he was too overwhelmed with joy that he didn't notice those sadness in Natsu's eyes.

"The thing that's holding me back is because I'm g-"

"NATSU!!"

Natsu's sentence was cut off when someone called out his name, to which has cause him to look at the different direction. There he saw his childhood silver haired best friend running towards him. All his worries has dissapear when he saw Lissanna and he hurriedly run to her. They hugged one another so tightly, not caring what the other people passing by might think. He hasn't seen Lissanna for two years now.

Gray on the other hand, well his overwhelming euphoria has suddenly been wash down the drain and his wide grin was replaced with a frown when his most awaited answer has been disturbed. But he manage to compose himself and went to where Natsu and the-silver-haired-girl is. And tries his best to keep his cool to not disturbed what he think is.
