(A/N: Started writing this before my DBZ chars x readers, if you want DBZ scenarios you should probably check those out instead, cuz this story ain't gonna be everyones - possibly anyones - cup of tea... I love that expression.

So anyway before this A/N gets too long, let's just say this is gonna follow the story pretty loosely at times, I'll be skipping a few things, changing em if required for context and adding new scenarios.

Finally, as anyone reading this who knows me will already have assumed, the (y/n) of this reader insert is gonna be an icejin - sorry! - but I'll also leave it gender neutral.

Now I'll shut up and get on with the story...)

Prologue: An unwelcome awakening

You were in bed trying to sleep at the time, the last thing you expected was to hear a deep voice informing you, you had been chosen - for something or another, you weren't really paying attention - even less expected was your sudden teleportation to a strange city where you were greeted by the sight of a gigantic dragon looming over you.

This is, however, the situation you find yourself in...

You jump in surprise, thinking perhaps this was merely a very vivid dream as you pinch your upper arm, mouth slightly agape, eyes remaining fixed upon the huge scaly creature.

The dragon abruptly vanishes leaving you alone and extremely confused. You scratch your head and look up at the peculiar podium you seem to be stood before, atop which ornate pillars and arches circled a round pedestal, your attention next turns to the giant hourglass floating in the sky overhead - 'Where the heck am I?' was just one of many questions you had right now.

You hear a voice behind you, but barely register what it says as you turn to face its source; a lavender haired figure - human perhaps? - currently unsheathing a sword.

"Huh..?"

Before you have time to question anything he attacks - you effortlessly dodge his swings; jumping back and readying for a fight, your (s/c) tail swishing behind you in irritation.

He charges forward again, this time you vanish - kicking him in the back - or attempting to - he dodges your attack with a quick leap sideways that leaves you open to the punch you soon find colliding with your right cheek.

You recover and fall back; hovering in the air you throw a (k/c) ki blast the lavender-haired swordsman - surprisingly your attack hits. You use his momentary paralysation to charge in and smack him in the face with your tail causing the man to fly rearward from the impact and crash into a short brick wall, destroying it in the process.

Your unknown assailant soon picks himself up from the rubble but before he can continue you yell: "Who the heck are you?!"

The man pauses his actions and responds: "Oh huh- my names Trunks..." He rubs the back of his neck. "Maybe I should have introduced myself before attacking you."

You blink, still hovering, no less confused.

"And uh where am I?"

"You were chosen - chosen by Shenron-"

"Who?"

"The dragon."

"Well." You cross your arms stubbornly, not even attempting to make any sense of things. "Tell Shenron to send me back! You can't just kidnap people in their sleep- then attack them for no reason!" You glare at Trunks - having your nap interrupted had made you quite irritable.

"Sorry- I had to test you." He said in defence, sheathing his sword. "And I can't send you back, we need you-"

"For what?"

Trunks sighed - it wasn't supposed to be this difficult, but then you were far from what he was expecting.

"Well let me start by explaining where you are..." He then began to ramble on about TokiToki city and time patrol - you remained silent throughout this, zoning out a little towards the end.

"And that's why we need your help-" Trunks looked to you - sat on the grass, head propped up on your hand, starring off into the distance. "Uh... hey! Did you pay any attention to what I just said?" He asked snapping you out of your daydream.

"Oh-uh yeah. Something about... something." You say, making random motions with your hands.

Trunks hung his head. "Maybe I should just show you." He walked off beaconing you to follow. "Uh, I never got your name."

"It's (y/n) or (n/n) – (y/n) to you."

~~~
You reluctantly followed Trunks through a strange blue portal within a massive archway.
Upon stepping through, you found yourself out of the alien city and in the centre of a grassy field that seemed to be floating inside some kind of glass dome, through which you could clearly see many other small planets and stars dotting the sky. You stand still for a moment; admiring the scene. There was a small house off to the side, machine parts strewn around it, but more interesting was the large building up ahead with what seemed to be a tree growing out of the top, golden fruits hung from its branches - you wondered what they would taste like and resolved to find out when your unwanted companion wasn't looking.
"Come on, this way." Said Trunks clearly wanting you to hurry up.
You strode after him - in your own time, arms behind your head, staring up at that glass dome.
Inside the building you notice hundreds of scrolls on the walls and pedestals' encircling the room, in the centre was a round white table.
Trunks picked up a scroll and walked back to you. "This is the time nest - all of history is recorded here, but- look" He places the scroll down on the table and the images begin to move.
A scene unfolds upon the parchment; two men and a green alien - who you believed was a namekian - were fighting; the first man was dressed in dark battle armour and in bad need of a haircut, the second man had shorter spikey dark hair and was clad in a battle damaged orange gi - he seemed to be losing badly despite the aliens assistance. You observed with little interest as they proceeded to get their butts kicked.
"It's all wro- HEY WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Yells Trunks as you pick the scroll up and turn it over, holding it up to the light filtering through the roof.
"Oh- uh nothing."
He quickly takes it from you and places it back down - clearly not appreciating your inquisitiveness.
"It's all wrong!" He repeats, uninterrupted this time. "Goku and Piccolo are supposed to kill Raditz."
"Who, who and who?"
Another sigh escapes your companion but before he can explain you say: "No never mind I don't really care. Now about getting home?"
"We can send you back but it'll take time." Trunks crosses his arms and stares at the ground. "You might think this doesn't involve you but if someone's messing with the timelines that could cause problems for all of us-"
"Aghh." You sigh. "Fine, since Im clearly not getting home any time soon and since it's bound to be more entertaining than hanging around here-" You grab the scroll again. "I'll help you just this once."
Trunks smiles. "Thanks- I think."
"Now just tell me who I need to kill."
"Uh- don't kill anyone! I just need you to keep Goku, Piccolo and Gohan alive."
"Great I've been reduced to an escort." You mumble to yourself before a bright light consumes your vision.
