I forget Xander's a natural at everything. We had gotten the address for the funeral home and when we arrived we hijacked a hearse with an empty coffin.

I saw as the family arrived car by car, in black and weeping for Anna. We waited outside until the service finished. I had decided to sneak into the service and watch as a woman who looked a lot like Anna, probably her mother, cry and hold a paper with shaky hands. I wanted to cry too but nothing. I felt nothing. Because in a way I saved her but in all reality they are mourning her human life. I will be with her as she cherishes her vampire life.

The service was about two hours before they all left and followed the hearse we drove. I really hope the driver Xander knocked out stays that way for awhile longer.
"Xander what's in the drug you gave her?" I asked as we drove to the cemetery.
"It's one part vampire venom and another part, we don't know" he said keeping his gaze on the road.

I wanted to watch as they placed Anna's fake empty coffin in the ground but we left her back at the hotel. Xander promised she wouldn't wake up by the time we got back but I was still worried.

We dropped off the hearse back at the funeral home and headed for the hotel. I practically ran back to the room to only find Anna still asleep on the bed.
"How long till she wakes up?" I asked as I moved her hair out of her face. She was burning up but Xander said it was a normal side affect to the overdose of venom.
"She probably won't wake up till we either get on the road or even back to Colorado"
"Why so long?"
"It's that other stuff the council puts in, it's like a sleeping drug and it takes a while to wear off" Xander grabbed our bags that we had previously packed, I had made a bag for Anna before we left her house.
"I'm going to put these in the car and go buy some food for the road. We're leaving when it gets dark so people don't see me carrying an unconscious girl" he headed out the door. Anna moved in her sleep and I just pulled the duvet up to cover her. She still looked so human, she was still a brunette and still had tan skin. Sometimes I wish I was still human.

Night arrived and I kept watch as Xander carried Anna to the car. I jumped into the passenger seat and watched as Xander carefully put a pillow under her head and shut the car door. He could be so gentle sometimes, the man I first met seems long gone. But deep down I know there is a lot of ghosts in his past.

Anna made it all the way home still asleep, we made it up the secret driveway we had that was only used when needed.
"Hey you guys are back!" Eva came out, it was early Wednesday morning, probably she was cooking and saw us pull up.
"Safe and sound" I smiled as I walked over to her and embraced in her a hug. We turned around to find Xander opening the back door and grabbing Anna. I looked over to Eva who looked very anxious.
"Does everyone know?" I asked. She nodded and grasped her hands together to her chest.
"Will you open the door?" Said Xander walking over toward the stairs. I sped over and opened the door to let him in. Eva followed.
"Which room is her's?"
"Downstairs next to Olivia's room" Eva responded to Xander. I opened the door to find a room sort of like mine but rearranged differently and the color palette different as well. Xander laid her down on the bed and pulled over the metal trash can over next to the bed.
"I'll be right back with her luggage" Xander said and sped off. Anna shifted in her sleep and I walked over to her. She was still dressed in the clothes the funeral home had put her in. She was in a dark blue high collar dress that went down to her knees. Also with black stockings and black flats, all finished up with a small pearl necklace. Xander came back with her luggage.
"I might change her" I said. I know I wouldn't want to be waking up to my funeral clothes. And she's been in them for days. He nodded and left the room, shutting the door. I searched through the bag and pulled out blue jean shorts and a white tank top with a graphic elephant on it. There was probably clothes for her already in the wardrobe and drawers since I sent the sizes to Isabella. But she's about to wake up to a totally different world and being in her normal clothes might help.

After taking a very long time to dress our unconscious Anna, I left for the kitchen. Many were already awake and eating breakfast.
"I'm hungry" I said to Xander. He looked up from his plate.
"There's food already" he smirked.
"No, I mean vampire hungry"
"Vampire hungry?" He laughed. Anna still had human blood in her veins and dressing her made me weak to the knees.
"Okay, I'll ask who else needs to feed. Why don't you go shower? It was a long trip" he was right. Out of the time having to first come to Colorado and driving to Arizona, on the way back with Anna was the hardest. I couldn't sleep without thinking of her life. Fabio has to explain everything to her about being a vampire. For me, that was extremely overwhelming. This girl looked like a senior in high school. I pity her. The fact she will never experience college and I did. Life was cruel and unfair.

"Better?" Asked Xander as we came back up the steps with Caleb, Freddie and Ruby.
"Not me! I was a fucking 5th wheel!" Yelled out Caleb.
"Shut up! We get it! Your lonely!" Freddie laughed, making the rest of us join him. I put my hand on the door knob and a familiar scent hit my nose. I paused and everyone else did as well. They smelled it to. I sped inside, down the hall and into Anna's room to find her kneeling over the trash can puking blood.

She looked at me with her teary red eyes and coughed before continuing puking. After another five minutes she grabbed a tissue from the table and wiped her mouth.
"What's happening to me?" She asked.

The question I asked and probably every other vampire asked as well. Sometimes I still ask myself what's happening to me? It may seem like I've embraced this new life but I really do struggle.

Anna frowned at my expression and I left out a sigh.
