"Sorry," I mutter as I bump into a big, burly guy.
"Watch it, girl," He glares at me, then continues down the corridor.
The bell rings for first period. I check my registration papers and hurry toward the sign that says General Office.

"You must be Angie Waters. We've been expecting you," a young lady sitting at the desk smiles at me.
"Yes, I am," I reply.
"Here's your class schedule. Your first class is Honors Composition, in Room 105 on this floor," she fills me in. She leans closer, and adds, "You got Miss Erna. She's horrible," Then her smile comes back and asks for my papers.

I hurry along the corridor to find Room 105. I knock. I open the door. Unfortunately, I interrupt a lecture.
"Angie Waters, yes?" Miss Erna asks. "Take a seat, quick," Then she resumes her lecture on how to describe a character's dress.
I plop down on a first row seat. This is going to be a long hour.

Without him.
