Jaq's POV

I opened my eyes to find that I was alone. Shane must've already gotten up and moving. I looked back to see that Chance was gone too.

I stretched my stiff muscles and with a satisfied sigh, I opened the door and walked out into the sun. I used my hand to hide from the sun. It's gonna be a hot one today.

Suddenly I heard Chance's steps coming close and kneeled down to greet him with a smile. He came into view and jumped on me.

"Good morning to you too buddy." I said with laughter.

"It's awesome how he knows when your up." I looked up to see Shane standing there.

I smiled back. "Guess we've known each other for too long."

Shane chuckled. "Come on. Saved some food for ya."

I stood and walked beside Shane. "You didn't have to do that."

"I wanted to. You need your strength. We're gonna be moving out today."

I became confused. "I thought the RV was broken."

"It was, but now we replaced the hose we found. Should work good as new."

I sat in the passenger seat of Shane's car. Chance had his head out the window, enjoying the steady breeze. Shane and I continued to talk about many different stuff.

I laughed uncontrollably as Shane told his story. "I swear that it happened." He laughed.

I shook my head playfully. "Oh my gosh. You were trouble when you were younger. I mean, who comes up with a plan to freaking break into the school, and steal the answers to the SATs?"

"A fucking genius." Was his answer.

I pushed his shoulder playfully. "To be honest. You would've been the type of person I would stay away from."

He glance at me. "Really?"

"Yeah. I was always told to stay in school, do your homework, be polite."

"So you basically had no fun." He teased.

I pushed him again with a smile. "Whatever."

I glanced at me again. "Tell ya what, you and I go do something crazy at the next town."

I huffed a laughed. "What would we do?"

"Anything. That's the point of having fun. You can do anything." He said with sincerity.

I paused to think about it, then nodded with a smile. His smile widened and he said. "Then it's settled. You and I are gonna sneak out after sunset and go to the town next door."

I shook my head with a smile. "Can't believe I'm agreeing to this."

"Hey," he glanced at me. "No take backs."

I chuckled then stared at him with a smile. He glanced at me. "What?"

I shook my head. "Nothing just... I haven't known you a full day, but I feel like I've known you my whole life."

He looked at me. "That's good right?"

"It's great."

He smiled. "Good."

Suddenly, we both saw the RV swerving. Thankfully Dale got control of it and everybody stopped and got our of their cars.

"What happened?" Rick asked Dale who was bending over to look at his tire.

"Flat tire." Daryl answered for him.

"Always something." Shane muttered.

"So what now?" Carol asked.

Suddenly, Chance started barking. I looked at him confused. "Chance, quiet boy."

He didn't listen and instead started sprinting into the woods. My eyes widened. "Chance! Chance!" I sprinted after him. I heard Shane follow me and shout my name, but I kept running after Chance. "Chance! Heal! Come back here!"

I felt fear fill my body when I lost sight of him. I stopped and looked in all directions. "Chance! Where are you!?"

"Jaq!" I turned to see Shane run through some bushes and stopped in front of me. "Jaq are ya out of your mind! Don't take off like that! You scared the shit outta me!"

"I have to get Chance. I have to!" I turned around to search for him again. "Chance!"

Shane grabbed my shoulders and turned me around to make me face him. "Jaq! Calm down. We'll find him."

Suddenly we heard Chance's barks again. It was coming from my left. "Chance!"

I sprinted towards his barks, and ended up in a clearing. I saw Chance growling at a bush. Shane was aiming his gun at the bush, prepared to shoot whatever that was in there. I grabbed my knife, ready to strike.

But, my eyes softened when out came a deer. I straightened my stance and put the knife away. I could see Shane was ready to shoot it but I put my hand on his shoulder. "Wait." I whispered.

Then I slowly crept up towards it with a smile. It was so beautiful.

Shane's POV

I watched as Jaq slowly walked up to the deer. I smiled at her. It was amazing to see her so close to a deer.

BANG!

The sound of a gun firing shocked me to core.

Then, in utter horror, I watch as Jaq fell to the ground. I froze.

"No. No no no!"
