Jaq's POV
Sofia clutched onto my pants as I stood in front of her, aiming my gun at the rustling bushes. I saw a shadowed figure coming closer and closer, but I couldn't get a good shot.
Then, the figure came out of the shadows... and it was a woman. A normal woman. She was dark skinned, had long dreads. She also had a samuria sword in her hand. I didn't lower my gun because anyone can be dangerous nowadays.
"Who are you?" I demanded.
She stared at me for a few moments then spoke. "Michoone." Then nodded at me. "You?"
I lowered my gun a bit. "Jaq." I looked behind me. "I think we can trust her. It's okay."
Sofia poked her head from behind me, but still didn't fully come out. She did wave her hand at Michoone though. "Hi." She said in a tiny voice.
Michoone smiled very slightly. Then turned back to me. "Where are you headed?"
I sighed. "We're searching for our group. We got separated a few months ago."
"Well, they're dead."
I narrowed my eyes. "And how would you know?"
She rolled her eyes. "There's no point in hoping that someone you haven't seen in months is still alive these days. The world did end if you didn't know."
I shook my head. "I wont believe that my group is dead. Not until I see them with my own eyes."
Michoone stayed quiet after that. A silence fell over us u til Sofia spoke. "Are you going to hurt us?"
I could see Michoone's eyes soften a bit. "No, of course not. I'm not that kind of person."
I smiled slightly. "Thats a rarity these days."
Michoone nodded. "Don't I know it."
Sofia fully emerged from behind me. "So... will you help us? Help us find our group?"
Michoone frowned slightly. "I'm not sure if I-"
"Please!" Sofia said desperately. "I miss my mommy. I want my mommy back."
I pulled Sofia close to me as she cried. I looked back to Michoone. "We could use some extra help. Besides, we could help you too. What'd ya say?"
Michoone seemed to process her options for a moment before nodding. "But before we agree to anything, I have to show you something."
I nodded and watched as Michoone reached behind the bush. She came back with two chains in her hand and seemed to be pulled something. I narrowed my eyes. Then they went wide.
"WHAT THE FUCK!" I aimed my gun at the two walkers that she had chained. Sofia gasped and hid behind me again. "Are you insane?!" I stared at Michoone with wide eyes.
Michoone raised her hands. "Don't worry. They can't bite or scratch you. See?" She pointed at them. They didn't have bottom jaws or arms. "Trust me."
I weighed out my options. I could either say screw that and leave without Michoone and risk not having an extra pair of eyes to cover me and Sofia and have a hard time finding the group. Or, I could trust Michoone.
If this was normal life, it would've been an easy choice, but right now, the world is at an end and these were some of the hardest decisions I'll make.

Shane's POV
For the past few days, the group has been staying in an abandoned prison. I had to admit, it wasn't bad. At least there was a roof over us, and some fences to protect us from walkers.
Everyone was saying that this place could be our new home...
...but without Jaq, nothing is home.
I see her face everywhere. I couldn't get her out of my mind. I needed her with me, otherwise I think I might go insane.

Today, I decided to go on a run. I took the truck I found in good shape, my guns, and Chance along with me. Rick asked if I needed him to come with me, but I said no. I really needed some time alone.
I stopped the truck when I spotted a gas station on the road. I grabbed my bag, shotgun and hopped put of the truck with Chance right behind me I banged on the window and waited. This was a new technique of ours. Hit the windows and wait for the walkers to come instead of going inside and risk being caught around the corner.
I looked down at Chance who was laying down on the ground. I smiled. "You're getting lazy." Chance looked up at me and barked.
"Don't try denying it." I said.
Chance groaned and I chuckled, then sighed. "You know, you remind me of Jaq." I turned my gaze up to the blue sky. "We'll find you Jaq. I promise."
