Shane's POV
I woke up to feel a weight on my chest. I looked down to see Jaq with her head against me and I smiled. Jaq has been the best thing that ever happened to me.
Slowly and gently as to not wake her, I lifted her head up and placed it on a pillow. I then put on a shirt and jeans and walked out into the bright day. It was gonna be a hot one today.
As I walked around the camp, I saw Rick coming out of the stables. When he spotted me, he smiled and approached. I smiled back. "Hey man." I greeted.
"Hey. Looks like it's just you and I for now."
"Yep." I paused. "I'm glad we're cool again. I just regret letting my pride get the best of me."
Rick placed a hand on my shoulder. "We're both at fault. I was the one who didn't listen to your opinion."
I smiled. "All in the past now, right?"
"Right on that brother."

After about an hour or two, everyone was up and working. Jaq was helping Maggie with grooming the horses and I was coming up with a plan for a run with Rick.
"I'm thinking that if we go to this town, we won't get as many walker because of how far it is from the main town." Rick said.
I nodded. "Yeah. That seems to be the best option. It's pretty far off though, but I think it'll be worth it."
"If we're gonna move, we better go now."
I nodded in agreement. "Just let me say bye to Jaq."
"Sure thing."
I walked to the stables to see Chance chasing a hen around. I chuckled and walked inside. Jaq had a chestnut mare with her. She groomed the mare's shiny coat with great care and a smile. She noticed me and turned. "Hey there."
"Hey." I hugged and pecked her lips. "Having fun?"
Jaq chuckled. "Yes. Did you need anything?"
"Actually I came to say bye. Rick and I are going on a run and it'll be a while."
Jaq's smiled faded slightly. "How long do you think you'll be gone?"
I shrugged. "I don't know. The whole day maybe?"
Jaq sighed. "I just don't like the idea of you going out so late."
I smirked. "Hey, I'm Shane Walsh. Nothing's gonna keep me away from you." Jaq's smile returned. "There's my girl." I kissed her, letting my lips longer on hers for a few moments. "I'll be back. I promise."
"Don't be too long." She said.
I nodded and started walking out, but at the doors I stopped and looked back. "Hey Jaq?" She turned to face me and I couldn't help but smile at her. "I love you."

Jaq's POV
I stared wide eyes at Shane when he said those three words. I smiled a teary smile. "I love you too."
Shane grinned and walked off to go join Rick on the run. I turned back to the mare named Nelly with a blush. I turned when I heard a giggle only to see Maggie standing there with an excited grin.
"I heard that." She sang.
I rolled my eyes playfully and sighed. "I can't believe he said that he loves me. No one, other than my mom, has ever said that to me before."
Maggie chuckled. "Shane cares about you, I can see that clear as day. You two are just so perfect for each other."
I raised a brow at her. "Well if we're gonna be talking about relationships, let's talk about you and Glenn."
Maggie's smile disappeared. "What do you m-mean?"
Jaq pointed at her. "Don't you play dumb with me." I smirked. "I've seen you two sneaking around. It's cute actually."
Maggie blushed. "Just don't tell my dad, please?"
I nodded. "Your secrets safe with me."

I threw the stick into the field and watched as Chance sprinted to go grab it bring it back. It was times like this when I feel like I'm back in the world from before. The only thing that would make it better would be if Shane was standing next to me.
Shane.
He and Rick have been gone for hours and I haven't stopped worrying about them. I couldn't help it, Shane's my boyfriend after all.
I smiled. Just thinking about us makes my heart sing.
Chance came back, tag wagging and slobbery stick in his mouth. I grinned at him and beckoned him to follow me.
"Come on boy. Let's get back to the group. I'm starving."

Everyone sat around a fire, laughing and smiling. It felt like I was back in the normal world. I sat next to Daryl who was telling me a story of when he got lost in the woods at a young age.
"When I found my own way back, I walked inside and made myself a sandwich." He finished.
My eyes were wide. "Wow."
Daryl smiled at my expression. "That's usually the reaction I get."
I huffed a laugh. "I bet."
Daryl was the type of guy that I knew I could trust. He doesn't quit very easily on anything. He was a good friend.
After I was finished with my chicken leg, I stood up and walked towards Shane and I's tent. I laid on the bed and picked up that book Dale gave me, realizing I never got a chance to start reading it. Might as well start now as I wait for Shane.

I opened my eyes and realized I must've dozed off. Chance was asleep on my legs and I scooted them from under him. When I stood I wobbled a bit and glared at Chance. "Thanks for making my legs fall asleep."
Chance just sighed and continued to lay there. I shook my head and walked out of the tent. Shane still wasn't back, and judging by the position of the moon, it was late. I became worried. What if something happened?
I gasped when I felt someone touch my shoulder. When I turned around I saw that it was Beth. I sighed in relief. "Oh. You scared me."
"Sorry." She chuckled. "I came to tell that Sofia's looking for you."
I smiled. "Thanks."
I then walked away towards the log where Sofia and I would play together. Sofia's a great kid, very bright. Sofia was sitting on the log with a piece of tall grass in her hands.
"Hey sweetie." I said. "Why are you out here this late? You should be in bed."
She smiled. "I couldn't sleep. And I didn't want to wake Carl."
I raised a brow. "So you woke me?" She paled and I smirked. "I'm just kidding. I was up already."
Sofia relaxed. "Oh good." She looked at me. "Are you worried for Shane?"
I nodded. "To be honest, yes. I'm always gonna worry about him. But I know he's strong and he will always find a way back to me."
Sofia smiled. "He will."
I stood. "Alright. Let's get you to bed."
Sofia nodded and stood with me and started walking back to the camp. I looked back out to the field to see any sign of Shane's return.
None.
But... Wait. What the hell? What is-
My eyes widened when a giant herd of walkers was heading our way.
