It's Called Rush

For three days now I had tried my hardest to avoid any contact with Ridley. I'd wake up and she'd be cooking in the kitchen, wearing short outfits. It wasn't too revealing but it still affected me, especially when she'd reach for plates and bend over to pick up dropped cutlery.

I didn't eat around her either. I'd stay in the study most of the time while she'd watch television all day. I knew that she had to be bored but at this point I didn't want to entertain her.  I couldn't do it while I was conflicted with my emotions. I knew that I'd fallen for her and I wanted to take care of her but I didn't know what to do about it so I ignored it.

It's the fourth night since I'd kept my distance. I'd decided to stay in the study a little while longer. An email had come through from Creeden.
CreedenD@gmail.com: We were almost caught. You owe me somehow.
Pierce.11@gmail.com: What do you mean?
CreedenD@gmail.com: Xavier sold the condo you're in. Thanks for my money. Your ass is saved. I'm going to have to come in a little bit earlier. Around the weekend maybe.
Pierce.11@gmail.com: That's okay. Get me a phone too. There aren't any phones here. How do I owe you?
CreedenD@gmail.com: Done deal. Get me one of your girlfriends friends that she'd been with at the club.

I didn't respond. The TV was still on so I went to check on Ridley. She was asleep on the sofa. I lifted her up in my arms and carried her to the room, her head resting against my chest.  "Pierce."

My name escaped her lips in a whisper. "Yeah?" I asked assuming that she was half awake. "I like when you take advantage of me. Please don't ignore me. I like the way you took care of me when I wasn't well."

The calmness in her voice disappeared when her eyebrows furrowed and her lips pouted and her sleeping voice quivered. "I like you. I promise not to drink so much anymore. Just don't ignore me any more."

She stopped talking but her crying only worsened. I rested her on the bed and walked out of the room and went on to sleep in the guest room.

The week flew by quickly, the tension between Ridley and I only grew. After I'd carried her to her room Wednesday night, she'd fallen asleep on the sofa. Completely clothed, giving me no option but to undress her so that she'd sleep comfortably.

Creedon said he'd arrive Saturday and wanted to go to the club around here. I agreed because there wasn't any other way I'd pay him back. I left the study to let Ridley know before she freaks out on the guy.

I sat down on the single seater opposite where she sat. "A friend of mine is coming to stay here from Saturday onward." I said as I studied her. She sat on her legs, counting her fingers. "Ridley?" She looked at me angrily. "I heard you okay? Jesus, do I have to agree to everything you say?" She screamed at me. "What crawled up your ass?" I asked. "Fuck off Pierce, I have no energy for this." She said as she got up and walked away.

It was one thing to yell at me but walking away from me was another. "Look. I have no idea what it is with women but I asked you a question. What's wrong with you?" I yelled, following her. "Pierce, why is it bothering you? You weren't bothered for four days. I don't need to tell you anything." She said slamming the door in my face.

Realising that she was right, I decided to give her space and left the condo. I drove to the bar not too far away from here. I sat down on a stool. "Give me three shots of brandy, and a bottle of tequila or vodka, or even both." I said to the bartender putting money on the counter.

He'd come back with the shots. I'd wasted no time and took all three. "Keep em coming." I said as the bartender placed the bottles of vodka on the table. When he'd returned I'd already gulped down half of the first bottle of vodka. "Bring me another bottle will ya." I asked as he placed the shots on the table.
