Jefferson's POV
Jefferson glanced out the corner of his eye as he made his way back to Robin Hood's camp. He saw someone he didn't know walking away from the campsite and his curiosity got the better of him making him follow closely after the mysterious person. He turned to his daughter Grace and says, "Head back, I'll be right behind you; I just have to check something real quick."
"Okay papa." She says as she makes her way back to the campsite a smile on her face. As he nears the person he watches as they pull something out of their bag and when they pull it to their head he calls out, "What are you doing?" They turn around and for a moment he is completely baffled. Whatever she was holding in her hand fell from it and shattered as it hit the ground.
"You?" She says as she stares over into Jefferson's deep blue eyes. His face is confused for a moment before he realizes who it is, "______?" He says her name wondering how and why she had come to the Enchanted Kingdom. "What are you doing here?" He asks a tinge of regret in his voice. Her (E/C) eyes instantly narrow as she says, "It's none of your business." His heart clenches as he opens his mouth to say something else only to see her stomp past him as she heads back to the campsite. "_____ wait!" He calls out as he follows behind her. When she arrived at the campsite he watched as she grabbed someone's arm and after saying a few words to Robin hastily left.
He stared after the way she had gone. She had every right to hate him and be angry with him. He'd done a stupid thing in the wake of his madness. She had to have given up something important to fix his hat he knew that but she wouldn't talk to him let alone explain things.
"Are you alright?" He hears a male voice ask and looks down to see Robin gazing up at him questioningly.
"Yeah, who were those two?"
"The Maiden was named ______, and her companion was called Killian. They were on their way to the Evil Queens Castle. Why do you ask?"
"I knew her, back from Storybrooke." Robin stood as he said, "Who was she in Storybrooke?"
"The Evil Queen's daughter." He hadn't meant to say it as loud as it came out but just as he did the entire camp went silent.
"Why would the Evil Queen send her daughter back to our land with only one man as her protection?" Jefferson felt his face harden as he says, "I don't know."
"_____ was here papa?" Grace says as she walks up to her father.
He swallows a gulp of air as he says, "Yes she was."
"Well what are you waiting for go after her and apologize."
Jefferson stared at his daughter in shock for a moment before he says, "Grace you don't understand."
"What's not to understand, you two just had a falling out that's all. I'm sure she still loves you." "Grace it's more difficult than that."
"No it's not you two are just being childish."
He smirks at his daughter as he says, "When did you get so grown up?"
She smiles as she says, "Go after her papa, I'll be safe here until you get back."
"Grace, she doesn't want to see me; you saw how fast she left when she saw me in the woods."
"You're just making excuses." He opens his mouth to argue when he hears Robin say, "If you like I'll go with you. She doesn't know these woods like we do." Jefferson looks down at his daughter and starts to say something when she pats him on the arm and says, "I know you'll be right back." She smiles as she reaches up and kisses him on the cheek before she heads over to where Roland is playing with Little John. "Shall we then?" Robin says as he grabs his bow and quiver. Jefferson takes a deep breath before he says, "Sure why not, oh and watch out she has a mean right hook."
~~~~Flashback~~~~
"Why didn't you tell me Regina was your mother?!" He yells at the young girl with fear in her eyes.
"I didn't think it mattered."
"It matters more than you know. She's the reason I went insane!"
_______'s eye narrow as she says, "I do not condone what my mother has done to you but you hurt her in a way no one can make up for. You, Wale, and Gold all lied to her about bringing Daniel back."
His eyes narrow as he says, "And I guess I deserved losing my daughter to random strangers because of that."
Her face softens as she says, "My mother has done a lot of bad but she had her reasons."
"You talk as if you were there, you weren't why do you keep making excuses for her?!"
"Because she is my mother and I know her better than anyone else in this world or any of the others, It's just like she says Evil isn't born, it's made; and because of what you three did she lost everything."
"How has she lost anything? She has you Henry and this whole town, what did she lose? She is just a selfish evil person."
He feels a fist collide with his cheek and he turns back to see her staring at him angry tears filling her eyes, "How dare you! I promise you one thing I will fix that stupid hat of yours and once I do I never want to see you again. I hope you and grace are happy wherever you end up." She stomps away from him her fist leaving a permanent indent in his memory.
"And one more thing, I hope one day you can forgive Regina, because I already know she has forgiven you." He watches as she leaves his sight. Every fiber of his being fought to go after him but his pride wouldn't let him. She didn't understand she couldn't and that was why he couldn't go after her. She'd forget him and everything that had been between them. He could only love one person and that was Grace. She was the only one he needed to be happy, wasn't she?
