Entry #7

Because of our late arrival back at the dorms and staying up till 2 am due to the caffeine, I woke up quite late this morning and missed my usual morning run. And felt terrible. Even without the exercise, I dragged myself over to the bathroom and showered. I felt a bit refreshed after that. Then I returned to my room and somehow managed to shake awake the sore Mel.

Grumbling in unison, we both headed to the dining hall. And ran into Miyuki and Sam and some other residents from our floor. They gathered around and as we ate, we related the night's events. Sarah appeared too, so she and Mel had a huge tale to tell. I sat on the side and sipped apple juice, shaking my head.

Then the talk switched to plans for the day. As the vote went around and it was realized that most of us had free time, the RA's went ahead and pushed for their idea: a trip to the beach. It was cool outside, but the sun was warm. So, we had a small group, of about ten people, which consisted of our floor people plus a 2nd floor person. She's Sarah's friend, I think. But when we got to the bus stop, the buses in the direction that we were supposed to go were cancelled. So we all trooped back to the dorm parking lot and piled into a few people's cars, and headed out.

The beach was crowded. As usual. The water was cold. As usual. The waves lapped at our feet, as we stood in the waves, our pants rolled up. Only a few people actually brought their swim suits. All I did was fold up my jeans and stand there, feet buried in the sand, the water washing over them, burying them deeper still. It was strangely calming. As if I could stand there. All day. All night. Forever. With the waves tickling my toes. The sky was dotted with clouds here and there and the breeze was perfect. Blue sky and white clouds. A perfect refresher.

We had lunch at a small cafe on a boulevard near the beach. It was amazing to see how all ten of us fit at one table in such a small cafe. Iced tea was passed around for everyone. As well as cookies and little pastries. Mel enjoyed herself a lot. Sarah and I shared a laugh when Mel tried to sneak another pastry under Sam's nose.

When we got back, Cecilia complained then was happy when Sarah gave her a bag of cookies from the cafe. Dinner was the same old dining hall food again, but it was just as fun as always. I think I might stay up and just chat with my floormates a while. Tomorrow is still the weekend and the little homework can wait.

Signing off,

Naomi

P.S. Hmm... I wonder... Oh, nevermind. (hehe)
