The Perfect Gift
"What do you want?" I asked Robert for the hundredth time, it was really starting to irritate me that he couldn't just give me a straight answer.
"I want nothing from you love, except yourself. And I already have that." He winked with a cocky grin on his face. Before I could come up with a good comeback he had already dragged me into a very expensive looking jewellery store.
"Help me find something for Viola? When it comes to presents she wants good ones..." He told me joking about. We searched all the glass cases for something simple and expensive for Viola. I finally found something that looked good enough. It was a simple 6 carat diamond bracelet that I knew was in Robert's price range. As he had been looking at far more diamonds in bracelets.
"Do you think she'll like it?" He asked examining the diamonds carefully.
"Well it's really pretty, and a lot of money so why not?" After a moment of hesitation Robert went to the checkout and pulled a handful of money out of his wallet. I swear my eyes nearly popped out of my head at the sight of it all. Someone would have thought he was a drug dealer or something with how much money he had in his wallet.
Earlier that day I had brought Erin's presents, I got her a bottle of her favourite perfume and the pair of boots she had been talking nonstop about since she set her eyes on them. I also brought Viola a gift which I was now glad I spent a lot of money on. I brought a bottle of Chanel perfume and a Chanel bag. For my cousin, Nathan who was still in town I brought a bottle of aftershave. The only gift I hadn't brought yet was Robert’s and I still couldn't decide on what to get him.
Mum had sent me more money, thank god. So I could get him a good present. Whilst he was chatting to the man behind the counter, I went over to view the watches. That's when I saw the perfect gift for him. He didn't own a watch as far as I knew. So I asked to see the silver Diesel watch that was in the display case. It was pretty pricey but I really wanted to give it to him. So I paid three hundred for it and skipped happily to his side. Where he now was standing outside of the shop leaning again the glass window.
"You look happy?" He commented, looking at my huge smile on my face.
"I am. I've got everyone's gifts including yours." I replied.
"Well I haven't got you anything, and I told you not to waste your money on me." I really hoped he wasn't going to get me such an extravagant like Viola's. I also hoped he knew me better than that.
"Please, please don't spend a lot of money on me." I said nearly begging. Robert then walked into an antique shop after noticing something in the window. I followed him inside, but he made me turn round so he could pick up the thing he had spotted for my present. I did not complain or argue, I did as I was told and examined all the small pieces of silver, which were really beautiful. There on a shelf I noticed a ring with the symbols I had recently discovered engraved on it spelling out ‘CASTER’ so I asked the man how much it was and paid for the item. I didn’t know why exactly I brought it but I felt like I had. I felt like it was special and I need to get it. After we left the store I placed the silver ring on my index finger and explained to Robert what it meant.

I was back in Robert’s room in no time, thanks to his insanely fast driving that scared the living day lights out of me. I placed the gift wrapped presents safely in the back of our closet and jumped in the shower. After drying my hair and getting dressed I headed downstairs to see Viola for the first time after her trip. She greeted me in her now more noticeable Italian accent and wrapped me in her warm arms. Which told me she had just fed, it surprised me how well I was taking the whole vampire ordeal but who was I to talk?
Once mine and Viola's catch up about what my Gran had told me and how her friends were. Robert and I headed up to his room. He had a song playing that I absolutely loved; Wait for Me by Motopony.
"I have to ask you something." I said really fast before he could distract me with his kisses on my neck.
"Anything love," He spoke the words so softly I was already getting distracted, not to mention he had his hand on my cheek. His touch made me shiver every time we came into contact.
"Okay, are you, have you, have you ever you know’?" It surprised me how tongue tied I got. There was a moment of silence until he told me the truth.
"Yes I have." When he told me he ducked his head like he was ashamed. Now I knew he was so much more experienced than me in every way. I could feel my facial expression fall a bit, I swore to myself a long time ago that I would do nothing until I had a ring on my finger.
"Well I haven't, and I don't want to until I'm committed to someone. So if you don’t want me now just tell me…” It still made no sense to me why he loved me, me of all people.
"Are you proposing to me?" He said before laughing gently to himself.
"In your dreams love," Using his nickname he used on me. Then I started laughing with him, still combing my fingers through his soft hair. I loved the feel of his hair and the smell. The smell reminded me of the woods after it had rained. The smell was so intoxicating to me.
"I would never ask you for your virtue, and I respect your decision Carmen. And when the time comes for me to place that ring on you if that's what you wish, then we will do so." I smiled at his respect for me and leaned on him crushing my lips against his soft memorising ones. Whilst I caught my breath every now and again Robert would just whisper; "I love you, so much!" This would make me kiss him again and again.
I woke up in Robert's arms again, they made me feel safe. His bedroom felt really cold and there was even condensation on the windows. I crawled out of his arms and walked over to the giant fire place next to the window, where I saw it was snowing again. The ground looked so serene with the blanket of white over it.
I took a deep breath and stood in front of the logs ready to be set alight. As Gran had taught me I called fire to me, and asked to borrow it’s power. Once I felt the warmth in my veins I whispered my command to the element in the ancient language, and the fire place came alive with orange flames dancing around warming the whole room up. I sat cross legged in front of the fire until Robert woke up.
"I take it as you did this..." He remarked staring at the fire. I could see him chuckling to himself in silence.
"I did, and I think I'm getting better at this whole thing." I said with a huge grin on my face. I heard Robert's footsteps head towards the shower and him shut the glass door behind him.
I got bored very quickly and for some unknown reason I held my hand up to fire and pointed my finger into different directions. And to my complete surprise the fire followed my finger. I let out a small laugh at the sight of the it. I sat for awhile doing exactly that controlling the fire and bonding with the element. I got very cocky and gave a small flame a hand motion to come to me, and so it did. The small flicker of light was sitting in my right palm, with my left hand I started spinning it making a tornado of flames. Still laughing gently to myself Robert came out of the shower and saw me.
"How are you doing that?" He asked with such curiosity in his voice.
"I don't know," I replied still giggling to myself. I could get used to this whole element thing. I blew the small orange glow back to join the others. Then got off the floor and felt very light headed. My knees were giving way, and the last thing I remember was a strong pair of arms catching me from my fall.
