The Runaway

"There are my babies!" My mothers voice rang out across the airport, as we approached our waiting parents.

"How was the flight?" Michelle's Father, Dan, asked all of us, as he embraced her.

"Long," she laughed.

I was quickly pulled into a hug by my father as well, and he joked "how many times did you puke?"

"None, thank you very much," I snorted.

"Why don't we get you girls home and fed then you can tell us all about your trip." My mom gushed.

"All about our trip?" Bethany asked giving me an amused look.

"Yes of course and don't leave a single detail out!"

"This is gonna be interesting," Michelle whispered as she walked past me.

We were quickly herded into the Dillon's van, that barely fit all eight of us. The hour ride from the airport to our home town was filled with the two women catching us up on all the town "gossip" we missed. Our town was right smack in the middle of nowhere Texas, the population was at a strong 4,462 people, and everyone knows each other, everyone either leaves right after graduation or stays forever. And I was one of the ones who has no plan to ever leave here, at least not permanently. Home is where the heart is and my home is here, with my family and right next door to my best friend.

"Honey, where did you get that sweater?" My mother asked me as I was unloading my suitcase from the back of the van.

"Yeah honey," Kylie mocked.

I shot Kylie a pointed look before answering, "I bought it in New York."

"Did you not try it on first it looks two sizes to big?" She questioned.

"Mom, I am twenty-one years old I know how to pick out my own clothes."

"Fine, fine," she gave up throwing her hands in the air before turning to Michelle and Bethany's mom. "I will never understand big city fashion, it looks like she pulled it out of the dumpster."

"Oh hush," their mom laughed. "Why don't you girls go unpack and dinner will be ready soon."

Not wasting another second I quickly headed towards our house and up to my room. As I close the door behind me I lean against it, letting out a breath of air, and quickly grabbing my phone from my back pocket. It vibrated as we were driving into town and inside I was hoping it was Harry but I didn't want to risk my parents seeing. The last thing I needed was a lecture from my father that I should be focusing on my studies and not some weekend fling.

As I looked at my phone I couldn't stop the smile creeping up on my face.

Let me know when you make it, so I know you are safe.

I'm home and safe.

Good. But truthfully I was hoping you plane would get canceled.

Tough luck Styles, it's time for me to get back to reality.

Or you could meet me in Vegas and we could run away together?

As tempting as that is my mama always says, "never marry a man from an elevator"

Does she really say that? Lol

No but It sounds like something she would say.

You are something else New York.

Says the guy who stalks people in elevators.

On the contrary New York I believe you stalked me.

That ego of yours is going to get you in trouble Edward.

"Brooklyn dinner is ready honey come down stairs!" My moms voice snapped me back it to reality m.

I'm sorry but I have to go dinner is ready.

I understand, I'll talk to you soon New York.

"Snap out of it Brooklyn" I mumbled to myself trying to stop the feeling of my fluttering heart. Getting up from the floor and brushing my self off, I look in the mirror that hung on my wall, I looked the same, as every other day except I'm still enveloped in Harry's sweater. With a small smile on my face I turn around and make my way down to my family.
