I'll be back my sweetheart, I promise... Those were the last words I spoke to my pup. I led the safety of the den where both my pup and I called home. The warmth of the den shielding the both of us from the frigid cold of the winter weather.

I had left the den long enough to collect food left behind by other animals that are able to hunt during this time of the year. My pack sent me away from them, because I was pregnant with my sweet little one. I mated with an unwanted wolf, a lone wolf. I had searched for the father of my pup but looking for a lone wolf is like trying to find a singular rabbit in a herd of them that look exactly alike.

It was only my little bundle of joy and I, I was left to teach him to survive in the wild. But he was still too young to even try.

Leaving the den and then coming back, not even gone about ten minutes. I stepped onto the rocks that laid above the den where my little one would play all the time to jump onto my back saying, "I got you mama!" Holding a rabbit that I caught for the both of us to eat, I saw him laying on the ground and a two legged animal standing just a few feet away from his limped body.

I dropped the dead rabbit in my mouth onto the ground and quickly went to his body hoping that it was all a dream or that the two legged animal only wounded him. But all hopes can be a lie, I nudged my muzzle into his now cold lifeless body. "Wake up" I would groan each time I nudged him.

Tears came down my face, the only pup of one that was the only survivor had died. I laid my head against his lifeless body, but quickly was stopped by the sounds of whizzing bugs by my own head. One hitting me just on the notch of my ear, blood immediately coming out and splattering on and around my little pup.

I fled...

The sounds of their shinny sticks didn't stop until I was out of their sight. Glancing at the ground, grieving for the little pup that once was alive now in the evil clutches of the two legged animal. I started to sing my song, my song of love to the spirit of my little pup. Thinking into my head, "I will find you dear. And I will kill the two legs that took your life too early."

Looking back towards the den that used to occupy two warm happy bodies now barren. I watched as the two legged animal trio walked away with the once lively body of a happy wolf pup that now the body ditched and a heart broken... my heart.
