Days after coming home from the hospital, Peyton and Lucas have another discussion about leaving Tree Hill. Lucas is completely ready, but is Peyton?
"I know it's a crazy idea, but don't you think that we should start our beginning?" Lucas whispers as he's feeding sleeping Sawyer. "I look at my mom, Andy, and Lily and see the amazing time they're having exploring, and making new memories...don't you want that? says Lucas
"I want new memories, but can't we make new memories, here, in Tree Hill?" Peyton whispers stubbornly. "I mean, there's Brooke and Julian, Nate and Haley...I don't know if I'm ready to leave it all behind."
Lucas carefully puts Sawyer in her crib. "Listen Peyton. I love you, I love our beautiful baby" as he looks down and smiles at the sleeping baby. "and I love our friends and family. Staying or leaving Tree Hill wouldn't change that." he leans in for a hug and Peyton backs away. "Lucas-" she's interrupted by baby Sawyers crying "I'll get her." says Peyton.
"When I walk around the streets of Tree Hill I see so many wonderful, wonderful memories...I met my best friend, who then married my brother, I met the love of my life" as he smiles quirkily at Peyton. "I had the most beautiful baby, with the most beautiful woman..but I also see bad memories. I see the high school where one of my closest friends brought a gun to school and shot you to and you almost died. I see Dan on every corner wanting so badly to be in my daughters life, to be in our life, Nathan, Haley and Jamie's life." He starts to tear, "everywhere I look Peyton he's there. He stooped a low no one thought he would. He killed my Uncle Keith. The only man who was ever a real father to me." Lucas starts to cry,
Peyton gets baby Sawyer to fall back asleep and gently puts her in the crib "Hey hey hey, c'mon come here" she hugs him "I know how hard it was for you to lose him, but Lucas," she pulls away from his embrace, "Keith is here. My mother is here. Elie's here..our family's here. Tree Hill is home."
Lucas wipes his tear and begins to get frustrated "Peyton I know it's home, and I couldn't have asked for a better one. But there's so many opportunities outside of Tree Hill that we'll never be able to see. I want our baby to grow up with adventure, new experiences, and be ready to tackle on any obstacle life throws at her. And if it means leaving home, so be it."
Peyton looks at Sawyer and then at Lucas. "Where would we go? How would we make our livings? When would we come to visit? Wherever we go is it too far to visit? Luke did you think of any of these things?" Peyton says agitatedly.
"Well no, but we can sure as hell figure it out. This is a new beginning. Our new beginning." he strokes Sawyers head "Wherever we go, whatever we do, we're always going to see Tree
Hill as home, and it will always be home. Moving is just making a new home us and for this amazing life we created together."
"Dammit Luke why do you have to do that?"
Lucas looks confused "Do what?"
"Be so damn sexy when you try and persuade me."
Lucas chuckles "Ha. What can I say?" there's a pause. "more importantly, whadda' you say?"
Peyton bites her lip and sighs. "It sounds like a great idea. It truly does, and I'm on board. But we have to make a plan."
Lucas smiles "So we're doing this?"
Peyton sighs loudly "I-We're doing this."
"God Peyton I love you so much" he twirls her around and kisses her.
Peyton's smile begins to fade.
"Whats wrong?" Lucas sounds worried
"How am I gonna tell Brooke?"• • •
