I'll Be Seeing You

Ring ring.

Peyton and Lucas have decided that it was time to leave Tree Hill and start their beginning. They leave their family, friends, and the unforgettable memories. What's worse, leaving, or telling your closest friends you're leaving?

Peyton calls Brooke.
Brooke answers excitedly "Hey P.Sawyer how's my favorite girl doing today?"
"I'm doing great I-"
"Oh I meant Sawyer but I'm glad you're doing great" Brooke jokes
"Very funny. So anyway I wanted to know if you'd wanna go out to lunch today, I think we should talk."
"You sound like you're breaking up with me. Is everything okay?" she says scared
"Yeah, yeah..everything fine I just think we should catch up, it's been crazy lately with the wedding, and the baby. We need some P.Sawyer, B.Davis time together."
"Oh. Okay. Peyton-"
Baby Sawyer starts to cry.
"Listen Brooke, I gotta go I'll see you in a bit, okay?"
"Okay by-"
Peyton hangs up.
"So, how'd it go?" Lucas asks Peyton as he walks in with a bottle.
"Well I didn't exactly tell her."
"Peyton.."
"Look, Luke. This is a huge deal. Brooke's my best friend it's not something I can just tell her over the phone. We're going for lunch and I'm gonna tell her then. And what about you?"
"What about me?"
"Did you tell Haley? Or Nate?"
"Well no but I-"
"But you...?"
"I-I'll get around to it."
"I'll get around to it" Peyton mocks.
Peyton takes Sawyer from Lucas and goes to the living room to feed her and Lucas begins to dial Haley's number when his phone rings.
"Hey! Hales I was just about to call you."
"Hey is everything okay?" Haley sounds concerned.
"Yeah everything's fine why?" he questions.
"Brooke just called me saying Peyton was acting weird on the phone and she needed 'to talk' or something."
There's a silence. "Lucas?"
"Hey I'm still here."
"Is everything okay?"
"Yeah everything's fine."
There's another silence. "Haley?"
"Lucas?"
"Look Hales everything fine, I was about to call you to ask if you wanted to go out to dinner tonight, we haven't spent much time together lately."
There's a short silence and Haley sighs.
"Lucas Eugene Scott you better tell me what's going on." Haley demands.
"Haley I'll explain it tonight."
silence.
"Over dinner."
silence.
"That I'm paying for."
"Oh okay! And I can't tonight. Jamie has Chuck coming over tonight for a play date. Maybe we can have lunch instead."
"Um. Okay I just have to clear my schedule." Lucas jokes.
"Clear. Your. Schedule. Mhmm. Okay Mr. Popular."
Lucas chuckles. "I'll meet you in a little bit."
"Okay-don't-forget-money-because-you're-
paying-bye!" Haley hangs up quickly.
Lucas laughs and hangs up.
Peyton walks in with baby Sawyer sleeping
"Sounds like it went well. Maybe she wants you to leave." Peyton jokes as she puts the sleeping baby in the crib.
"Ha.Ha. Very funny Mrs. Scott, but in fact I did not tell her and we as well are having lunch this afternoon."
Peyton turns on a baby monitor and the pair both leave the nursery shutting the lights and closing the door behind them.
"Should we tell them together?" Lucas asks.
"I was thinking that for a while, but I don't know if I'd be able to control myself. I mean it's one thing telling Brooke but Brooke and Haley together..I'd lose it."
"Do you think they'll understand?" Lucas asks.
"Understand what?" Peyton replies.
"Why we're leaving. I mean like you said, it's a huge deal and we're leaving it all behind. Do you think they'll be upset?" he asks worried.
"Well. Of course they'll be upset babe," Peyton reassures, "but in the end it's really not their decision. And it doesn't really matter if they understand it. We're doing this because it's for us. You know Luke, you always do things for other people and never think of yourself. This is the time for you to think for yourself and do what you want. Regardless what others think."
Lucas squints. "You know I love you." as he grabs Peyton's waist.
"Well of course I know that." she puts her arms over his shoulders. "It's a cliche, but it's true. You sometimes have to put yourself before others, no matter how much it hurts them. Like I said, we're doing this for us. Not for anyone else."
They kiss for a few seconds.
"I've been thinking about this for as long as I can remember. I never thought I'd actually do it. It feels amazing to do things for other people, and doing this one thing for me, for you, for us...is, beyond words. Thank-you for understanding me and wanting this with me Peyton. I wouldn't be able to do it without you."
They both smile and kiss.
"It's gonna be great. And it's gonna be amazing. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you Lucas Scott." Says Peyton smiling.
"Peyton Sawyer. Will become, Peyton Scott. I'm so glad I'm finally warming up to you."
he jokes.
"Yeah? Well I guess I can learn to live with you. But it'll take a while." she jokes.
Lucas smiles and asks. "This is just the beginning of our beginning, and the future couldn't look brighter without you by my side Peyton Sawyer."
