Lucas and Peyton decide to tell their best friends Haley and Brooke they're leaving Tree Hill. Will they be happy for them? Or will this be the end of their friendships?
"Brooke!" Peyton calls as she sits at the table. She greets her with a hug and a smile. Brooke quickly pulls away.
"Peyton Sawyer what the hell is going on? Is everything okay? Is Lucas okay? Are you okay? What about Saw-" she's interrupted.
"Hello to you too. Brooke we're all fine. I just wanted to talk. Karen's still home and she offered to watch the baby so we could go out to lunch."
"What about Lucas?" Brooke questions.
"What about Lucas?" Peyton replies.
"He couldn't watch her? Peyton what is goi-" she's interrupted again.
"Brooke! Lucas is fine. He's with Haley. Neither of us have gotten any sleep these past few days and Karen offered."
There's a silence. Peyton looks down at the table and her eyes turn red and begin to water.
"Peyton?
"No, no I'm fine." she smiles and wipes a tear.
"Hey what's wrong?"
A man in jeans and polo walk up to their table and interrupt. "Hello, my name is Mark I'll be your server this afternoon. May I interest you in a drink?" he notices Peyton crying. "I-Would you like me to come back in a few minutes?"
She looks up and replies: "No, no." Peyton says sniffling her nose and smiling. "I'll just have a water and she'll have..?"
"Uh..waters fine too." Brooke answers.
The waiter nods and walks away.
"Peyton Elizabeth Sawyer if you do not tell me what is going on I swear-"
"I'm leaving Brooke."
Brooke smiles and scuffs. "Excuse me you're what?"
"I'm leaving."
"Leaving as in..?"
"Moving Brooke. Me Lucas and the baby are moving." Peyton says as tears fly down her face and she sniffles her nose.
"Moving? Okay? You're moving so- is Lucas mad you want to move to another house? I don't understand." Brooke beings to sound worried.
"No Brooke. We're moving. Away. Out of Tree Hill." She looks down at the table.
There's a silence. The news startles Brooke and leaves her dumbfounded. "Brooke? Say something. Please." Peyton says.
"I just wish I would've had a slight understanding on why you're leaving, everything behind. Does the past mean nothing to you?" she shouts.
"Woah, Brooke! Hey! That is not fair! Of course the past means everything to me. When it was good it was amazing. But what about all the bad Brooke. Huh? That's still there." Peyton shouts back.
Brooke squints her eyes and says "Well of course it's still there! What do you want to run away from it like you always do?! Did it finally catch up to you?!"
"Brooke!"
"Peyton!"
They look at each other with tears in their eyes and red in their faces.
"Look Brooke," Peyton says as she clears her throat. "Lucas brought up a good point, my daughter should grow up with adventure and new experiences. I don't want you to despise me for the rest of my life, but this isn't for just me or just for Lucas. It's for my daughter. Who comes before everyone and everything." She confidently answers.
"I get that Peyton, but can't you give her new experiences and adventure, here? In Tree Hill?" Brooke questions.
"Believe it or not wasn't on board either, but Lucas is right, we should make our beginning...and not keep our daughter from new adventures and new experiences outside of the town we've live in for our entire lives. And it's not like I wasn't thinking of everything before I made my decision, I thought of you the most and how it would effect you, but I can't keep putting other people before me...before my family!" She looks at Brooke. "And as much and I don't want to upset you, I have to think of myself and my family first now Brooke. You will always be my best friend, but this is my life now. My daughter and my husband are my life now. They come before everything." she says hoping Brooke would understand.
"I don't even know what to say" Brooke says angrily.
"Just something, please." Peyton's begs.
"I'll start off with this." her voice cracks
Peyton smiles.
Brooke stands up grabs her purse and throws a twenty on the table.
"Like you always used to say...People always leave."
She walks away leaving Peyton crying and her mouth open in shock.
