I'll Be Seeing You

Hey Hales. Bye Hales.

After a lunch date with best friends Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer went horribly wrong, lifelong friends Lucas and Haley sit and have a one on one lunch that they haven't had in months. Brooke wasn't as accepting, but is Haley?

Lucas and Haley both walk up to a table and take a seat. Before a word is said, his phone begins to ring. It's Peyton and he answers: "Hey babe, how'd it go? Okay? Hey hey it's okay. She'll be okay, you'll be okay everything's gonna be fine. Yeah I'm with her right now. Yes. Okay. I-I love you too, I'll see you at home. Okay, bye." Luke raises his eyebrows and sighs.
"Is everything okay?" Haley asks.
Yeah it's fine Brooke and Peyton seemed to have had a bit of a scuffle on their lunch date." he says.
"Ooh. I hope everything's okay." says Haley.
There's a silence as the waitress brings two menus to the table and she says: "Hello I'm Amanda and I'll be your waitress this afternoon, can I start you off with any drinks?" she asks. She notices something and says, "oh my god. You don't mind me asking?"
Lucas and Haley look confused.
"You're Lucas Scott, I go to Tree Hill High School and I've read your book a dozen times! She quickly notices Haley. "And you must be Haley James! Haley James-Scott! Your Nathan Scott's wife..and Lucas' best friend! She says excitedly. Lucas smiles and shakes her hand as he introduces himself.
Haley looks down at her table, fakes a smile to the waitress and says, "hi! Yes I'm Haley nice to meet you."
"This is amazing, I love your book, it's amazing and Nathan, oh my it must've been tough-" she's interrupted by Lucas. "I'm sorry can we just have something to drink, I'll take a water with lemon and Haley..?"
"I'll have the same." she says.
"Coming right up!" she prances away.
"Well that was-"
"something" Haley finishes Lucas sentence.
They both chuckle.
"So what's on your mind Luke?" Haley asks as she looks at the menu.
Lucas raises an eyebrow and looks at Haley wondering how she knows somethings up.
Still looking at the menu, "I've known you long enough that when you say 'nothings' wrong there's something wrong. Lucas Scott you may seem mysterious and squinty, but with me, you wear your emotions on your sleeve." she looks up from the menu "So what's up?" she smiles.
Lucas laughs and says "Listen Haley-"
"This can't be good."
Amanda puts the waters on the table smiles excitedly and walks away.
"Okay I'm just gonna start off with this."
There's a short silence. Lucas takes a sip of his water and as he's putting it down he asks: "What would you think..about leaving Tree Hill. In your opinion what's your take on it?"
Haley looks confused and answers: "Leaving Tree Hill? Uh..well..I mean.. It would be different. I don't know how'd I feel about leaving it behind, but I think it would be-I think it would be something I'd have to put a lot of thought into with myself and with Nathan." She looks at Luke, tilts her head then leans back in her chair. "Wait."
He grins and looks down at the table.
"You're leaving Tree Hill?" she asks.
"I am, in fact, leaving Tree Hill." he answers.
There's a silence.
"And is-"
"Peyton's okay with it."
"But what about-"
"Haley. It's happening."
silence.
"Is-is this what you want?" her voice shakes.
"This is what my family and I want." he reassures.
"Oh Luke." she starts to tear. "This is..incredible. I'm really happy for you. You know you always think of other people and always put what you want on hold. This is amazing.. I'm really happy for you." she smiles as tears fall."
"Haley don't cry this is good! This is amazing, I'm opening up my family to amazing opportunities and adventures. And I'm really glad you're on board, your opinion means a lot to me."
"I'm so happy for you, I really am. You, Peyton and Sawyer are gonna be fine, I know it." her smile fades and she asks: "so Peyton and Brooke had a scuffle..?"
"Yeah their lunch date didn't go as smoothly as ours." he starts to get up and pushes in his chair.
Haley starts to get up and as she pushes in her chair she says: "It's all gonna be fine, it's big news. Brooke's a big girl, you know how she is."
They begin to walk way.
"We'll see."
