Jack was nowhere to be found She asked one of the guys and he said "Yeah I think he got called to the tech department."

"Thank you," she said before heading to the elevator.

She got out of the elevator and looked around for Jack. She found him looking at a computer screen with one of the tech guys. When she got closer she heard him say "So your positive it was him?"

"I am sure Jack. I'm sorry there is no mention of her at all."

"Jack?" she said from behind him.

He turned and she noticed the pained look on his face and the emotion. It was almost like he was on the verge of crying and it broke her heart a bit. "Hi... um I cant help you or whatever you want right now I have to deal with this... look Kyle I need you to find her."

"Look man like I told you I can only find things of her childhood there is nothing else."

"She couldn't have just disappeared Kyle," he said raising his voice.

Amanda walked closer to the screen to see what they were looking at and her breath hitched in her throat. She saw a picture of her and her dad, there were also articles of his beating up. "What are you guys doing?"

"I've been trying to find this childhood friend that left when I was like eight."

Seven actually, Amanda thought. "Trying to? What do you mean?"

"I mean that Kyle isn't a good hacker and cant find anything."

"Look man I am doing my best, I have been digging for eight months and I can't find a single document that suggested that she is still alive or where she is. For all I know she could have died with her dad and they didn't say anything."

"Don't say that," Jack choked out. "She has to be alive, I can feel it; an amazing girl like that doesn't just vanish."

"Well I'm sorry to say this Jack, but she has... I don't know what else I can do for you."

Jack cleared his throat before saying "Yeah... I appreciate it Kyle."

"Are you ok Jack?" Amanda asked.

"No Mandy, I'm not fine. I just found out that the one person I ever really loved has vanished without a trace probably forever and that her dad is dead which only makes me wonder if she is too." He said as he covered his face with his hands and rubbed it. "Ah! I guess nothing really ever lasts forever."

"Infinity does," Amanda mumbled.

Jacks head shot up and asked "What did you say?"

"I said infinity does." He stared wide eyed at her for the longest time before she realized she had just given herself away. Her dad said that all the time around Jack. "Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked nervously.

"It's just the girls dad said that all the time. Where did you hear it from?"

"Um my uncle, I remember him saying it a couple of times to me."

"Huh," he said narrowing his eyes at her. He then shook his head and said "Anyway."

"Um Jack, I was wondering do you want to go get something to eat after work today?"

"No, not really; I'm not really in the mood and I don't feel very well Um Kyle can you tell Boss man that I'm going home sick?"

"Um, sure. Are you ok?"

"I just need to be alone." With that he walked out of the room and into the elevator.

The next day Jack didn't show up for work and the day after that he didn't either. Amanda questioned if she should go over there since he shouldn't answer any of his calls or return them. By the third day Jack finally showed his face at work and he didn't look good at all. His eyes had very dark circles around them like he hadn't been sleeping these last few days, Amanda could tell that he was losing weight which meant he wasn't eating, and everything about him screamed something was wrong. Once the morning meeting was over everyone cleared out except Amanda who grabbed jack before he went out the door and closed it. "We need to talk," Amanda said sternly.
