Reunited

Chapter 5

The next day a bunch of the team had to stay late to finish an idea that the boss wanted to do with a big protein bar company. Kyle was there for the tech department and all of the marketing people where there including Jack who looked worse. Amanda didn't know how much more she could take of this and she needed a way to stop it. At this point she would do anything including tell him who she was. As the meeting kept going Amanda ran out of paper to wright on so she looked over at Jack who was scribbling away and said "Hey I ran out of paper could I use some of yours?"

"Yeah it's in the folder in my bag." He said not looking up from his notes.

Amanda grabbed his bag and opened it to get his folder out. When she did though it was upside down and all the paper fell out of it. the speaker stopped talking and Amanda whispered "sorry," before they began again. She started picking up pieces of paper and notice some had sketches of different cars and things on them but one piece in particular caught her attention. It looked almost like a letter and so she grabbed the rest of the paper before sitting up and looking at the paper. Her stomach turned as she read  it:

Dear Amanda:

I remember when we were young and didn't know what love really was. But I do now and it's you... you are the love of my life and I want nothing else than to be with you. You are most likely with your dad and I don't know how I am going to continue on without the hope of you. You were my everything and now your nothing but a distant memory that is fading every day. How much longer will it be before the memory of you is completely gone? I'm not going to wait around for that...

"What are you doing?" Jack asked looking over to what she had in her hands.

"What is this?" she asked shocked and everyone stopped to look at them.

"look you have no right looking through my stuff," he said trying to grab it from her.

Amanda got out of her chair and away from him before reading quickly the rest of it. it continued; I can't and I won't. I have officially lost everything, you, your dad, and mine. What else am I going to lose? Nothing. The thought of falling in love with another person sickens me to no end and I can't life this life anymore. I hope you are waiting for me. I'll see you soon.

With teary eyes Amanda looked over at jack and asked "So was this the plan all along?"

"Be quiet Mandy and give it back," he said getting up and walking over to her.

"Was this the plan?" when there was no answer she said "No, that's not happening!" before ripping the letter in two.

Right then Jack lunged at her to grab it before she did more damage to it. When he did Kyle got up and said "Hey Jack cut it out... leave her alone." He said watching Jack push Amanda around trying to get to the letter.

Right then he snapped and grabbed the back of Jacks shirt and pulled him off of her. Jack then looked at his so called friend with pure evil in his eyes. He then ran into Kyle knocking him to the floor before going over to Amanda to get the remaining pieces of letter that she still ripped up. Kyle got to his feet and came up behind Jack and grabbed him. Jack then turned around quickly and nailed Kyle with a huge punch to the right side of his face causing Kyle to fall to the ground. Everyone in the room was stunned at what was going on and were all looking at Kyle on the ground. Amanda could care less about Kyle but rushed over to Jack who at that time was holding a rather large pocket knife in hand. Jacks hand was shaking uncontrollably as he held it pointed at Kyle as if he was going to attack him. Amanda shielded view of the knife from Kyle by standing in front of Jack who looked her in the eye then down at the knife in his hand looking dazed. She turned him a little so the people seated couldn't see it either and she slowly made him walk backwards to the door. She put a hand on the one that held the knife and slowly tucked the blade back into the handle. She looked up at Jack with tears falling down her face and led his hand to his pant pocket so he could slip it back in. By that time Kyle was up and he said "Mandy what are you doing leave him alone he is the one who attacked you." when Amanda kept walking with jack to the door he continued "I thought you were with me... It's either me or him Mandy. I thought we had something."

At that second Amanda snapped and turned to Kyle and said "We were never officially a couple so get over it!"

Amanda then escorted Jack out of that room, into the darkened hallway and into the conference room before closing the door. She turned to Jack and hugged him tightly before sobbing against his shoulder. Amanda clung to him for dear life while his arms loosely looped around her waist. She hugged him harder hoping and longing for him to tighten his grip on her. "Why?" she asked.

"I had no other choice."

"Sure you did... How could you even think about that.... Oh my god and it would have been my fault," she sobbed.

"How would it be yours?"

"It is... Why did you think this... I don't understand."

"I lost her, that's why... I lost her," he said as Amanda felt a tear fall on her shoulder.

"No you haven't lost her Jack. If I would have known you would do this I would have told you from the very beginning."

"What are you talking about?"

She let go and took a step away from him before saying "Look at me Jack... From day one you've always known... deep down you knew." Something changed in his face as he started to realize what she meant. "I'm Amanda Johnson."

Total shock was all over Jacks face. Then he looked at the necklace and knew what it was and everything about her made it obvious to him. "Why didn't you tell me before?"

"I didn't know how... I never thought I would actually find you and when I did I was so happy but when I came face to face with you I couldn't get the words out to tell you... Are you mad?"

A huge smile spread across his face and he said "How can I be mad?"

He then grabbed her and hugged her like she would fly away at Amy moment. She hugged him back and said "I love you Jack."

"I love you too Amanda."

They just stood there hugging each other for the longest time before Jack pulled back a little and looked right into her eyes. "I thought I would never see you again, Thinking back I  don't know how I missed this... you knew exactly what to say and I always wondered why you seemed so familiar to me."

"Yeah... I thought you had figured it out once."

"What?"

"You said that things don't last forever... And I told you..."

"Infinity does," he said remembering that time. "I remembered that when your dad said it and I haven't heard it since. I did think it was you though, then I thought about how you just vanished into thin air when you were nine I just thought that I was just hoping that it was true and just brushed it off."

"Yeah well I'm here now; honestly I came back for you. I found out where you were and got a job here. Then I kept going as Mandy and got to know you again, to become your friend again, to learn new things about you, and fall in love with you again." She said with a smile on her face and looked up at Jack who also had a smile on his face. "You know even when we were young I knew you were the only one for me. When I realized that what I felt for you was love I was gone and I was thrown into this life I really didn't want to be in. I never stopped thinking about you though."

"Me neither," he said grabbing her hand and rubbing her knuckles with his thumb.

"Come on, I'm sure they can finish the meeting without us. Let's go get a coffee or something."

Jack's smiled widened before he said "yeah, let's go."
