How I won Mythomagic

At lunch, I ran around the school, looking for Percy. I sighed. As I walked up to the cafeteria, trying to find Grover, I saw him sitting with six other first graders. They were laughing and telling each other jokes. Grover saw me, and waved.

"Hey Annabeth!" Grover grinned, "Where's Percy?"

"I don't know, he ran out of the classroom during English!" I said, worried. Grover and the six first graders' expressions morphed into a concerned one.

"Why did he run out of the classroom!?" Grover asked.

"We were doing our Greek Mythology project," I explained, "And when he searched up Poseidon and saw the images of him, he ran out of the classroom,"

"What did he say?" Grover asked, fiddling with his fingers.

"This might sound weird, but the last thing I heard from him was 'Dad'," I told him. I noticed that Grover's eyes widened, an expression that could possibly mean that he knew something about the situation. But Grover shook his head vigorously.

"Don't worry, he'll come any minute," Grover said, "So Annabeth, these are my friends Hazel, Frank, Piper, Jason and Nico,"

I remembered Hazel and Frank from our English class, but the others, I didn't know. Hazel was the African-American girl with shoulder-length curly cinammon brown hair - but there was something I did not notice from her before - she had golden eyes. Frank was the Chinese-Canadian kid that had a buzz cut and brown eyes.

Piper was the girl with choppy chocolate -brown hair, and had thin braids down her sides. Her eyes were changing colours, I couldn't come to a decision what  colour eyes she had - they were like kaleidoscopes. Jason had blonde hair and I noticed that he had a band-aid on the bottom of his mouth. Wonder what it was for. Leo was a scrawny boy with black curly hair and dark brown eyes. He had a cheerful and mischievous smile on his face - I noticed that he was fiddling with some lego bricks. Finally, Nico had olive skin and messy, shaggy black hair. He was holding a pack of cards in his hands.

"Hi, Annabeth!" the six first graders all said. I waved to them, and smiled. I sat down in the seat between Grover and Piper, and I took out my lunch - PB&J? Again? Oh well, it's my favourite, anyway.

"Hey guys!" Nico said, clapping his hands, "Wanna play Mythomagic?"

"Great!" Frank said, "Which figurines have you got?"

"Um, I've got..." Nico said, grabbing out his figurines out of his bag, "I've got a Manticore, Zeus, Apollo, Hephaestus, Athena, Poseidon, Ares, Kronos and Dionysus - I hate the Dionysus figurine! He only had five hundred attack points!"

"True, bro," Hazel said, patting his shoulder. Hazel was Nico's brother? But they look nothing alike!

"You mean - half brother -" Nico smirked, "Bianca's my sister!" Hazel laughed and nodded. Ohh, that made more sense.

"I don't think you should disrespect the Greek Gods, Nico," Grover said worriedly. His eyes widened, and he covered his mouth.

"Wuddya mean, Gro Gro?" Leo asked.

"Nothing," Grover said, "And Leo, you have the weirdest nicknames for people," Leo wriggled his eyebrows.

"Okay, Mr. Mchshizzle is losin' his patience - let's start!" Leo said, pumping his fists in the air.

"Who's Mr. Mchshizzle?" Hazel asked, mockingly.

"Uh, duh, me?" Leo said, wriggling his eyebrows.

"Nah, you're more like repair boy," Hazel said, and I laughed.

"Supreme Master of Tools and Gears, you mean!" Leo said, spreading his arms out wide. Piper slapped her forehead.

"What??" Leo said.

"Can we just start now?" Jason asked, and Grover nodded his head in agreement.

We played Mythomagic, and my first thoughts on it was that it was actually really fun. I like the Athena figurine the best, it had +100 knowlege,  and 3000 attack! I looked at the Poseidon figurine, with a trident in his hand. I thought of Percy - he hasn't appeared since English.

"Jason, Piper, you guys are out 'cause you can't move the Titans and Gods unless there are no Heroes left on the table that has the exact same amount of points as the opponents figurine!" Nico said, slapping his forehead.

Jason and Piper looked at each other.

"Wow, that's confusing, Neeks," Piper said, brushing her feather on the lunch table.

"Wait, so I can't use Zeus!?" Jason asked, rubbing his band-aid. Nico stared at the two first graders with annoyance.

"Frank, Grover, please help," Nico pleaded, groaning.

"Hey, I only have the Grecia Mediterranean Expansion Deck!" Frank said, showing his figurines to Nico.

"Yeah, we don't have the Africanus Extreme Deck," Grover said, playing a song on his panpipe, " We don't know how to play,"

I wasn't listening to their conversation, as it was my turn to move my figurine on the board. I moved my Athena figurine two up, and three to the right, where Leo's Hephaestus figurine was standing. I knocked it over, and cheered.

"Woohoo!" I cheered, "I won the game!"

Everyone stared at me, gaping, especially Nico.

"Woah, nobody's ever beaten Nico before," Jason said.

"Yup, Annabeth, you're the first ever one to beat him!" Piper said, high fiving me.

"Wow, good job, Annabeth," Nico said, congratulating me, "You sure used Athena's +1000 knowledge wisely!"

The bell rang.

I got up from my seat and waved goodbye to my friends. I went to my cubby to pick up my books. As I walked down the corridor, ignoring the judgmental looks from the students around me, I had only one thought in my mind the whole lunchtime. Where was Percy?

I checked the Hall, peeked through the Mr. Blofis' English classroom, and I even checked the library, which was the last place anyone would go to find a person like Percy. I started to panic, and I remembered that Percy has some family problems with Smelly Gabe - did his stepdad do something to him!?

As I looked around the Quads, I gasped. Percy was holding Sally's hands, talking to Gateway Elementary's receptionist. The receptionist was on the phone talking to someone. They both looked grim and anxious. As the receptionist put the phone down, and talked to Sally, Sally turned furious and pulled Percy closer.

"Sorry, Mrs. Jackson," the receptionist said, "Principal's orders: Percy is expelled."
