It was the day. The final tryout. I honestly wasn't sure if I wanted to go or not. Although I had somehow made it through the second tryout where our skills were tested, I wasn't sure if I was actually field ready. It was pure chance that coach had seen one of my better throws instead of the one that hit Jared in the face. I'm pretty sure he's still mad at me about that.

Anyways, before the tryout could begin I have to get through school first, which has been a unique experience in itself. Ever since I had accidentally started tryout out for the Copper Cove High Coyotes people have been talking to me. I was pretty surprised when I first heard about people talking about me, I was for sure not at the bottom of the social ladder, but definitely not at the top, so it was strange that I to hear my name in the hallways so much. Then again, the reason for why it was such a conversational topic other than it was a girl trying out for an all boys team, was likely that Copper Cove wasn't even the high school I attended. I currently go to Riverdale Composite, the only other school in the neighbourhood, meaning that there was some competition. We may not have a football team, but our school definitely competed academically and with other sports. It probably didn't help that a many students moved from Riverdale to Copper Cove because Copper Cove was honestly better. There is a lot of more choices to do at Copper and because it was a bigger school it had more teams, including the football team. Riverdale isn't big enough to have a football team, and being so small the rumor of the me participating in the rival's schools teams was enough for me to be considered a traitor to some.

"Hey Megs!" greeted Jessie as I walked into my first block Science 10 class I shared with her. I slumped into my seat beside her, deciding that I would move to my regular spot afterwards.

"Hey Jess, how you doing?"

"Great! How are you? Oh and did you completed the homework on pages thirty four and thirty five yesterday?"

"You're just being cheerful because you didn't do your homework yesterday and want to copy mine, aren't you?"

"Yup, now pass the answers over."

Sighing, I slid my science notebook over to my best friend, who enthusiastically scribbled the notes into her binder with a sparkly pink gel pen. Tapping my fingers on my desk I watched as my other classmates came in, settling into their seats. After saying hello to a few of my other classmates who I actually talked to, I ended up moving into my normal seat near the window on the far side of the classroom just before our teacher walked in.

"Good morning class!" enthusiastically called Ms. Gabbeson. "We're talking about ionic compounds today. Let's get right to it, alright?"

By the end of the lesson I still didn't understand ions at all. I knew what I would be studying at home tonight, sighing I began my walk to my next class, P.E., which wasn't my favourite nor did I hate it. Iffyou were to be on any sports team in the school, you had to be in phys ed for the full year, and being on the soccer team, I was in the course. Unlucky for me, some of the nastier cheerleaders were also in there.

"Oh look! Jock Strap's here," snickered one of Jess' cheermates. Rolling my eyes, I turned and walked to my locker, squading down to put my combo in. It took me four tries until it finally opened with a resounding click. After quickly shuffling into my gym clothers, some old soccer shorts and a tournament tshirt, I walked back into the gym, just as the teacher blew her whistle.

"Come on ladies, get a move on! I don't got all day here," yelled Miss Yapton.

I jogged into the centre of the court where she was waiting for us with the rest of the class. Taking a seat on the floor, I shuffled closer to one of the nice girls in my science class who I had spoken to before. Jess was in a different PE class, as she took dance as a extra class so didn't need to do the five credit gym class I was stuck in.
