"Lexa," Clarke breathed. "What are you doing?"
Lexa didn't even open her mouth to answer. She just looked down at Clarke with her signature icy stare as a sickening sound of the guard's fist connecting with Murphy's stomach bounced off the walls of the room. Clarke shifted, leaning around Lexa immediately to see if her friend was okay.
"HEY!" She shouted, trying to get the guard's attention. "Stop it! Murphy, are you okay?" But he didn't get the chance to even look up at her as the burly man standing in front of him swung his fist once again, this time landing on his face.
"STOP!" Clarke pleaded, looking at Lexa. "Lexa, please. Stop this."
Lexa lowered her gaze. "I'm sorry, Clarke."
Clarke face froze in concern. "Lexa, I'm begging you."
The commander stared at Clarke for a moment. Then, she spoke. "Does your back hurt?"
Clarke's scowled. "You... You did that."
"Clarke, we needed a way to track you. To know if who we were following was you. The mark helped us."
"You could have just asked me!" Clarke yelled, her voice echoing in the large empty space.
"My people want me to kill you." Lexa let out quietly.
Clarke was taken aback. "...What?"
Lexa didn't say anything.
"You're not actually going to, right? Lexa, you were the ones who betrayed us!" Clarke began struggling against the chains holding her up.
Lexa sighed softly. "Hodnes laik kwelnes."
Love is weakness.
Clarke stopped and shook her head. "No, it's not! Lexa, love gives you strength! It gives you so much more to fight for!"
Another punch.
Lexa looked as if she was contemplating whether Clarke was right or not.
Punch.
"Lexa, please. You know I'm right."
Lexa stared at her, her eyes giving off regret. She turned to her guard. "Hod op. Daun ste pleni. Breik em au."
Stop. That is enough. Free him.
The guard looked at his commander. "Beja, Heda. Teik ai frag em."
Please, Commander. Let me kill him.
Clarke started to panic. What if Lexa let him go through with it?
"Shof op! Ai said em pleni!"
Be quiet! I said enough!
"Ba Heda-"
But Commander-
Lexa drew her sword and swung it, showing no mercy. The guard's head flew to the ground and landed at Murphy's feet.
"Yu gonplei ste odon."
Your fight is over.
Lexa reached up and unchained Murphy. He fell to the floor and grabbed his stomach, moaning.
As soon as Clarke was free, she ran over to him, kneeling and throwing her arms around him. She rocked back and forth, tears ready to fall from her eyes.
"You'll be fine." She whispered.
Lexa looked at them. "My apologies. I was blind. But I no longer am. I will help you back to your camp."
Clarke knew what Lexa meant.
I'm sorry. I didn't know what love meant before. But now I do. And I have an example of it sitting on the floor in front of me. Now let us go.
