Chapter 1

Zaira's P.O.V

"Zaira, Zaira princess wake up. Come on wake up, you don't want to over sleep on your birthday." My father's soft cheery voice drifted into my sleepy head . I peeked through my lashes and saw my Dad smiling down at me, his dark blonde hair flecked with grey. He looked much younger than his actual age, but that was just the werewolf gene.

"Daddy, just five more minutes okeyy." I mumbled into my pillow softly slapping his hand away as he kept on shaking me softly.

"I'm sorry princess, but I have a meeting today and I can't miss it. I will be back at noon and then we can spend the rest of the day together." sighing I looked up from my pillow, glaring at him while he tries to persuade me."Oh come on don't look at me like that Chase is downstairs waiting for you, he even made me buy a cake. It's chocolate flavoured and everything."

" Fine I'm up, I'm up"he smiled at me before leaning down and giving me a quick kiss on the forehead before walking out of my room to attend his stupid meeting. I rubbed my eyes a few times before I threw the duvet off of my body and stumbled to the bathroom, nearly tripping on one of Chase's toys. I might be sixteen mentally, but I did not look it physically. My dark blonde hair was sticking up in all directions and my blue eyes looked slightly red from when I rubbed them, along with my terrible morning breath and baggy pajamas. Sighing loudly I stripped out of my clothes and took a quick shower before dressing in some jeans and a white shirt, blowdrying my hair and applying light make-up before walking out of my room.

"Zai, zai!" Chase screamed as I finally walked into the kitchen, jumping of the kitcken counter and sprinting towards me arms wide open. His chocolate brown eyes sent a warm feeling throughout my body and a big smile made it's way onto my face as I picked up my 7-year old brother. We adopted him at birth and the moment I laid eyes on him I vowed to protect him against any harm that might come his way. After hugging me tightly he sprang out of my embrace and sprinted to the counter where a small red box with a white bow was laying. He grabbed the box and sprinted back to me and shoved it into my hand.

"Open it" he encouraged his eyes following me as I slowly lifted the top of the box and sucked in a breath. Inside was a golden necklace with two intertwined hearts as a charm, the words 'love you' was engraved on the back and my heart warmed when I saw the two words."Dad helped me though, but yeah I hope you like it."

"Thanks Muffin, you truly are the best brother in the world. I absolutely love it and I love you too."I said giving him and kiss on the cheek and ruffling his blonde hair.

"If you keep on calling me muffin, I will lose my reputation amongst the ladies and then no one will want to go out me" he said making me chuckle before he countinued his rant "and that includes the hair touching and  cheek kissing."groaning softly he wiped his cheek quickly and darted into the living room away from me. I followed closely behind and saw a birthday cake along with a bowl of popcorn and a few blankets already waiting. The eight Harry Potter movies neatly placed in order and Chase already waiting patiently for me to start them. This has been our tradition since he was old enough to talk, we would lounge around the whole day having a Harry Potter marathon and I hope that will never change. My best friend gave me quite a lot of grief about this and always nagged me to come and socialise, but I  always refuse.

I fell down beside him and we started the first movie, but just when  Hargid told Harry that he was a wizard Grace and her twin brother Drake came bursting through the door with presents in hand and uncontrollable smiles on their faces

"Pause that movie faster than you can say Quidditch or someone is not getting their presents today"Grace cried dramatically, throwing her hands in the air and plopping herself down on one of the couches with Drake following quickly behind her. They grinned at me when I finally paused the movie, two presents clutched in their hands.

"I don't like pausing movies"Chase mumbled softly crossing his arms over his chest and pouting at me. I ignored his complaining and  impatiently waited for Grace to give me their presents. She slowly stood up and placed a big box in my lap before   shuffling back to her seat with an eager smile on her face. I ripped open the box and saw a big red skateboard inside with my name engraved at the bottom. I jumped out of my seat with excitement"Thank you, thank you thank you. I can't believe you got me that, oh my word that is so amazing" I jumped up and down, but stopped when Drake handed me his s the present with a matching smile. I ripped open the box and there was no surprise when I saw a matching helmet and knee guards that was  probably Grace's idea.

I quickly ran upstairs and places both presents on the bed and placing Chase's necklace around my neck. We quickly made another bowl of popcorn when I got back and played the movies again.

"So when do you think you're going to shift."Grace asked eagerly once the credits of the fourth movie were rolling. Chase was struggling to get the Dvd out and place Order of the Phoenix inside and Drake was looking into the distance while munching on some popcorn.

"I have no idea. Dad said that it might be early today and late tonight. My mom shifted at night, while he shifted in the morning so we actually have no idea when I will be shifting. I hope he is here though"

"Oh I can't believe you will finally be able to meer your mate and then you guys can fall in love and have babies together and I can be their godmother and we'll all live in the same street and then our children will grow up together. Drake don't you think that will be so fun."

"What. Yeah"he mumbled with a mouth full op popcorn before he stared at the Tv screen, the fifth movie finally starting. Chase sat down beside me and eagerly snatched the popcorn from my hands.

"I wonder how your wolf will..."but before she could finish her sentence a scream escaped from the lips. All the eyes were turned to me as pain coursed through my body, Grace's sea-green eyes filling my blurry vision as I felt my body shaking in pain.

"Drake she's shifting. Take Chase out now."

Chase's sobs filled my ears as he shook my body, but then his body was lifting from the couch and he was carried away.

Grace's soothing words were cut short when my dad came bursting through the front door in a hurry. His eyes wild and scared. I felt my body slowly slipping into darkness and the last thing I saw was a black wolf before I felt the darkness over take me and my bones slowly shifting.
