I waited patiently for my parents to be preoccupied. Although they hadn't given me much trouble or a punishment, if I asked to go out tonight they would have said no. So why not just cut out the middle man?

I pulled out the folded address from my pocket double checking before I slid into the car, turning the key and putting it in reverse. Once I had made it to the local gas station I filled up, punching the address into my GPS. It had been a birthday present once I got my car. My parent's probably never thought the gift would turn on them, allowing me freedom.

It took almost twenty minutes of driving just to exit the city limits. Just like last weekend I headed far away from home with no knowledge of what was a head of me. After cruising through a small town, of what appeared to be composed of no more than four streets, I hit a dirt road and continued to bump along the road until the GPS told me to turn. I got more nervous when I showed me turning into an un-mapped road area.

Eventually, it seemed like the dirt road turned into a long driveway. There were yellow and green fields of either side of the property with a for sale sign swinging in the wind. Out in the distance I could see multiple buildings surrounded by fields on either side. It was safe to say I was far away from the city. I wasn't used to the country side as I swerved to avoid the dips in the gravel path.

As I pulled up to the main house I struggled to find a driveway. There were multiple sheds and barns that I would be blocking the entrances to. I parked behind Zack's car, even though it appeared that most of the front lawn was a parking spot.

I got out of the car and headed towards the house. Like the fields that surrounded it; it was a pale yellow house with white trim. It wasn't nearly as large as Stella's father's house but more welcoming.

"You know I just saw someone drive away in that car only an hour ago and now it's back on my front lawn." A voice came from a head of me, it emerged from someone sitting on the porch step. I stopped in my tracks, I should have called first.

I felt paralyzed, too shy and too ashamed to come forward. I debated running back to my car and driving away but the woman spoke again.

"Well little lady are you going to help me up or what?" She asked extending her hand waiting for me to grab it.

I bridged the gap between us as I extended my hand struggling to pull her up. She laughed at the strain on my face before speaking again, "I enter every room belly first now a days," she chuckled before steadying herself and heading up the steps towards the door.

"Well, are you coming or not?" She gestured inwards throwing the words behind her as my heavy feet chased after her.

Zack's house was small but warm. Immediately after entering I was bombarded with various gifts piled up along the front hallway. They were all different sizes but all had baby colored wrapping paper with obnoxiously large bows.

"Don't mind the mess, Sweetie. All of Darren's friends and co-workers are all being very generous, although the gifts are just to avoid the elephant in the room," she snickered and I was shocked at the resemblance it had to Zack's snarky laughter.
