Chapter 9: Old Lovers

Lewis paced the room glancing back at Izzy every so often. Alpha made sure everyone kept their distance, if anyone would come close he would growl and get low the ground ready to pounce. I found a bowl and put his dog food in it. Sarah was sweating and looking around nervously. I wonder what her problem was. Niamh was sitting on a chair and thinking. I put down my bag and went over to Niamh. I handed her the quill and book of paper.
"I found this at the place I was staying." I said with a shrug
"Thanks! I have something to do now!" She smiled sweetly at me.
I threw the headphones at Sarah. She laughed and thanked me. I went over to Lewis and handed him the globe he just nodded his thank you. Next I went over to Scarlett, I quickly pulled  out the plushy from my bag and threw it at her. She screamed and jumped back. I laughed
"I told you I would get you a plushy cassowary! Enjoy!" I grinned at her and walked off
"Like hell I will." She mumbled pulling her knife out and pretending to stab it.
I walked over to the back table where Izzy was and placed down the necklace. I lowered my eyes and walked away. I pulled out the photo of our whole class in year seven. All of us we're standing in a group. Jess stood next to me, my arm was draped around her shoulder and Sarah on her other side leaning on her. I pinned it on a wall. I placed the Tardis under it and walked outside.
-Flashback-
"OMG HAVE YOU WATCHED DOCTOR WHO YET!?!" Jess yelled at my face.
"YES I HAVE!" I yelled back. Me and Jess started jumping around in excitement
"DID YOU KNOW SEASON 9 IS COMING OUT! I WATCHED THE TEASER LIKE 40 TIMES LAST NIGHT AND AFTER I WAS JUMPING AROUND THE HOUSE LIKE A MANIAC!" We laughed and started watching the video again. We ran around the classroom until Mrs Baker walked in. I stopped suddenly and Jess ran into me knocking us both over. We were on the ground laughing our heads off. Until Mrs Baker sent us to Mr Walkers office. By then we were laughing even harder
-Another Flashback-
Everyone was asleep in our cabin. Niamh was making crazy dying noises in the middle of the night, Sarah was sound asleep, Scarlett was sleep fighting (Some how?) and Izzy was tossing and turning but asleep. Me and Jess were wide awake talking and jumping around our cabin. We played truth or dare for a bit and got bored. Then we started talking about pranks and how we would kill people. By the end of it we were laughing our heads off and rolling around on the floor. Suddenly I had this great idea of being grubs in our sleeping bags! So we were rolling around on the ground at 4 am yelling I'm a grub and laughing our heads off. Suddenly our door bursted open and Mr Walker came in. He dragged us outside and made us sit in the cold me and Jess were still giggling when he started to yell at us
"What are you two girls still doing up!" He bellowed at us
"Talking....." I mumbled
"Well you shouldn't be up this late you have a big day tomorrow! If I hear you two up again I'll send you home! Am I clear!" He yelled . We nodded.
"Now you two get back to bed right now!" We got up and sprinted to our room. We started laughing quieter this time. We looked over the windows and realised they were open. I closed them and locked our door. We started laughing again. Jess said goodnight and we both went to sleep.
-End of flashback-
I stood outside the wind in my hair. I saw movement in the corner of my eye and spun around. A girl about my age stood there. She had black short hair that just touched her shoulders. She had brown eyes and a crossbow in her hand, she had what looked like a RPG on her back. She ran off. I ran inside and grabbed a few bullets for my pistol and whistled for Alpha. We both ran after her. I ran harder and almost caught up with her. She ran into a building I chased after her. She stood in the middle of the room.
"Hey! Who are you!" She turned around hearing my voice she kept her head low so I couldn't see her.
"Now! She yelled. I gave her a confused look before I was surrounded by about six other people. Each had a rife or a pistol. I pulled out my Kopis and Alpha growled. One stumbled back in surprise. While I had that open I rolled through bullets flying everywhere. I stood in front of a metal frame my back against it and Alpha standing in front of me avoiding the spray of bullets. I was grabbed suddenly by my hood and pinned to another beam. He had beautiful blue eyes and sandy blonde hair.
"Alex....." I whispered. He looked at me his eyes soft and kissed me quickly on the lips before binding my hands and dragging me out to the others.
"I caught her!" He yelled to the others who all cheered. That other girl walked up to me and grabbed my Kopis and examined the blade and smiled Alpha jumped at her growling. She swung the Kopis at him giving him a shallow cut on his flank. He whimpered but took a big chunk of meat out of her ankle she screamed as big streams of blood run down her foot.
"Stupid mutt!" She pulled her pistol out aiming at him.
"Alpha!" I lurched forward breaking out of Alex's grip. I sat in front of him gun pressed hard to my head. Alpha began to chew on my bindings.
"Looks like I'm gonna have to kill you first." She loaded the pistol. I felt the binds fall off. I grabbed my own pistol and pressed it to her forehead. Alpha growled at Alex but returned his focus to the girl.
"Who the hell are you and what do you want with me?" I growled at her.
"My names Kat and I'm the leader of this group of survivors. We've been watching you for weeks. We want to join you." She look at me. I lowered my gun and she did to me. I snatched my Kopis out of her hand.
"What was up with surrounding me? "
"We wanted to talk to you but we thought of we just knocked on your door we would get shot at like that other guy." She smiled sheepishly at me.
"Welcome to our group I guess. You guys have some nice gear."
"Thanks. We kind of stole it when those FBI agents came along to help but they all died." I nodded I looked at Alpha. He barked at me and I patted him on the head. I cut off a long strip of my black undershirt and tied it around his flank he licked me in reply. I glanced up at Alex, his eyes were distant.
-Flashback -
I sat next to Alex his arm around me and my head on his shoulder. There was a slight breeze and my hair blew in it. It was spring and a bit cold out. I shivered a bit as a gust of cold air hit me. He took off his jacket and draped it over my shoulders. I smiled at him and he kissed me on the head.
-End of flashback-
That was two weeks ago. I hadn't seen or heard from him since then. I thought he had escaped and left me here. But he had stayed and alerted the group of where we were. He hadn't left me. I reminded myself this was a zombie apocalypse. This is no place for love. We started walking I glanced away and looked at the group who followed us. Alex came up next to me.
"Are you ok? You look like hell." He looked me up and down where blood had stained my clothes once again.
"Im as good as I can be." I sighed and said nothing more he raised an eye brow at me.
"You know I looked for you. I didn't just leave you." A new found rage bubbled in me.
"I'm sure you did." I hissed at him. He was taken aback for a second
"What happened to you?"
"Killing people and things happened. This isn't the time for love. This is an apocalypse not a romance movie." My voice was like venom as I walked faster. He stopped for a minute hurt crossed his face and he lowered his head. We got to the pharmacy and I pushed open the door. We all piled in and my group all pulled out their guns. All of their eyes trailed to Alex. They all gave me a look and I shrugged.
"Alright these guys will be joining our group. This here is Kat she is the leader of their group. Izzy, Niamh, Sarah and Lewis can you guys make them room to sleep? Scarlett I need to talk to you." Everyone moved off and Scarlett walked over to me
"I don't trust them Scar can you keep and eye on them. Make sure everyone carries a gun with them. The back room has all our supplies in it?" I asked nervously
"Yeah it does. I've already locked it since someone's been slipping near by groups supplies." She handed me the key which I put in my pocket.
"If anyone looks suspicious or something's not right come tell me. Even if it's someone from our group. No one can be trusted at the moment." She nodded and moved off to help the others. Kat walked over to me
"Sorry about hurting your dog."
"It's ok. I almost killed him too when I found him staring at me in the morning." We both laughed and leaned against the wall.
"I never got your name."
"It's Chelsea. Over there is Lewis, Izzy, Sarah, Niamh and Scarlett. Over there is Alpha." I pointed to everyone showing who they were.
"What about the two with the dark hair?"
"Jess and Adam? Jess shot Adam and I shot Jess before she turned." There was a silence before she said
"I'm sorry."

Wow! This chapter was 1750 words long! My longest chapter yet! I went away for a holiday and had lots of time in the car to write! Some of the flashbacks I said had some true parts to them. Most of the people who I have added to the book are real people. Except for Kat. After killing off Jess the real life Jess wanted a new character so that's her character!
