Chapter 8: New Friends

I woke up the next morning to sun on my face. I rolled over on my side to find a dog staring at me. I scream, wide eyed I rolled grabbing my Kopis. The dog whined and laid on the ground. He looked pretty well he was feed up pretty well and was muscular. I put my Kopis down and looked at him. He was a German Shepard. I raised my hand to pat him but he cowards away.
"Easy boy I'm not going to hurt you." I said in a soothing tone. He lifted his head up and I patted his soft head. He licked me and laid over me. I patted him happily, he fell into a bit of a sleep. I got up moving him off me but not waking him. I would have to leave soon. I found a backpack, I found a few bottles of water some cans of beans and dog food. I looked over at the dog. I was going to take him with me. I found a necklace with a greenstone. She was part New Zealand and Morai so it reminded me of her. I put it in my backpack looking for more things. I found a little cassowary plushy and chuckled to myself remembering Scarlett's fear for them. I found a pair of green headphones, they looked exactly like the ones I had lost in year 7. I found a quail, Niamh loved writing so I kept that and a book of paper. I found a small globe, that would be for Lewis. I walked past a mini  Tardis. I tear slid down my cheek remembering what had happened yesterday. How I pointed the gun at Jess and killed her. How she loved doctor who. I sank to my knees and started to cry, not small forced tears but hot streams of salty tears. The dog came over to me and nuzzled me asking if I was ok. I cried into his fur. Once I had stopped I picked up the Tardis and put it in my backpack. I looked down at the dog, I hadn't thought of a name for him. Hmmm. Falcon? No. Hawk! No. Alpha? Yes. Alpha it was. I looked down at him.
"Do you like Alpha boy?" He waged his tail and barked in delight. I think he liked it. We left the store and headed to the pharmacy. I lifted the hood so it covered my head and face. When we reached the pharmacy everyone was inside yelling at each other. I pushed the doors open letting Alpha in first. He growled at everyone. Lewis pointed his gun at Alpha and Scarlett pointed her shot gun at me.
"Looks like you've gotten pretty handy with that thing." I grinned under the hood. Scarlett dropped her shot gun and embraced me into a tight hug.
"Man Chelsea never do that again!" She let me go and smiled at me. Lewis put his gun away and slapped me. I rubbed my sore cheek.
"That was for being reckless and stupid like I told you not to." After that he hugged me too. Izzy did the same saying nothing. Sarah just stayed with Niamh giving me a welcoming nod. I took the hood off and everyone gasped at my new hair cut. I grinned at them all Alpha barked at me.
"This guy here is a new member of the team. This is Alpha." He sat down next to me eyeing off everyone.
"Before you came back we were arguing about something important. You know the near by gangs? Someone's been slipping them some of our supplies." Scarlett eyes everyone off with suspicion.
"Anyways where is Jess?" Izzy asked nervously. I hung my head low not looking her in the eyes.
"No she can't be. There is no way!" She covered her mouth with her hands. I raised my head to her and said
"I shot her. There was one bullet left and she was going to be turned. She asked me to do it." Izzy walked backwards as if I was a monster. She went to the back table and started crying. Alpha pushed his nose into my hand looking at me with worry. I sighed and pated him on the head.
