"Paratroops, over the sides!" Teddy yells as he jumps off the deck.
You and the guys were playing an army game, much to Teddy's liking, at Teddy's house.
"So first, we have to decide teams," Chris announces.
You just so happened to be standing by Teddy and across from Gordie, Chris, and Vern. Gordie said, "Why don't us three go together and (y/n) and Teddy team up."
Teddy looked to you. "Yeah, that works out fine."
"Of course it does," Chris chuckles and so do Gordie and Vern. Teddy just ignores it and goes on about the rules.
"Now remember, if you get hit, you're unable to move for a minute. If you're hit three times, you're dead. No cheating!" And by hit, he means with squirt guns. "We'll start on either ends of the house. Ready troops?"
Everyone cheered a "yeah!" in unison.
When Teddy and you walked together to the side of the house, it was silent. You wanted to start a conversation but didn't know what to talk about. You had liked him for the longest time and the guys had always hinted that he did too, but the two of you had never really talked about it together. The short trip remained silent until you got to your destination. He instructed you, "Keep close, don't let them see if it's not necessary. If we remain silent and unseen, we can attack them. We want to be on offense, not defense if we don't have to be. If you just stick by me and follow my lead, we should win this thing easy."
You just nodded and followed as he lead the way at the side of the house. You two crept behind the bushes, trying to find the enemy. After a while, you guys thought that they went off somewhere or were on the complete other side. Just as you guys both stood up, three pairs of footsteps sounded around the corner.
Teddy grabbed you and pulled you down. Only it wasn't graceful and he kind of fell on top of you. Oops.
The two of you stay there, him just lying on top of you. He put his finger to his lips and whispered, "If we move one bit, they'll hear or see us." So the two of you stayed there, just staring into each other's eyes, because if you moved, they would find you, as Teddy said.
"You're so beautiful." Immediately after he had said it, his face turned bright red. "I didn't mean to say that out loud."
Your face blushed as well, but a smile spread across your face. You couldn't believe he just said that, the guy you had dreamed of. Saying that to you? No way, this must be a dream, a fantasy. This can't be for real. Is it? Oh it is.
"Well, you're very cute."
He scoffed and looked away for a moment before returning to look at you. "Yeah, right."
"You know, Teddy, there's something I've been meaning to tell you."
"No, there's something I need to tell you."
Neither one of you spoke for a minute, just staring. You both knew what the other was going to say, you just couldn't say it.
"Well, go on," you said.
Keep in mind, this whole time, he's still on top of you.
He's about to speak when you both hear footsteps approaching. "They're coming, they know we're around here." He says.
"What do we do?"
He looks at you for a moment and decides, knowing that the window of opportunity is closing.
One second, you're looking at each other. The next, he smashes his lips into yours without another thought. It took you by surprise at first, but that didn't matter to you. The guy of your hopes and dreams is kissing you?!?
It lasts a few seconds more. Both of you are grinning, he puts his forehead to yours, still looking into your eyes.
All of a sudden, the bushes you're behind move and three figures stand over you. Teddy scrambles to get off of you and you both just sit there, not knowing what to say.
"You know, this really doesn't surprise me all that much," Vern says. Chris and Gordie nod in agreement.
You both stand up, brush off, and all head to the treehouse. "So uh who won then?" Gordie asks.
You speak up, "Well I don't know about you guys, but I think we won." The three boys chuckled and made remarks, none of which you heard because you were too busy looking at Teddy, him looking back, holding hands, and thoughts jumbling through your head.
He smiles at you, "I think we should play that game more often."
"You think?"
"Yeah."
