splintered asphalt,
fractured into
dendritic vines
that trail the length
of sacred ground
that deteriorates
into nothingness
before my very eyes.
splintered asphalt
that cracks to reveal
an endless chasm;
a chasm that
beckons me forward
and urges me to
p l u n g e in.
