-(Y/N) P.O.V-

I wake up and shove the tangled hair from my still sleepy face. I sit up and stretch, bones popping into place filled the air. I open my blinds and smile at the light coming through my window. Getting up, I lazily shuffle over to my closet. I pick out my unique clothes and put them on my bed. Tonight was the festival that everyone would gather together and party. Everyone seemed to get all excited when this time of year came around. But me, I wasn't that thrilled. I'm alway depressed and I hate talking to people, and as much as I hate to say this, it's true. I really want to have friends and meet new people, but I'm too scared to make friends. I'm shy and I'm worried that I'll make friends and then find out they were killed or something like that. My only friends is Anju, Link and Malon. Of course, I haven't seen Link and Malon in forever.

I scramble over to the bathroom and turn on the shower. Steam from the hot water filled the tiny bathroom and fogged up the mirror. I smile to myself and get undressed. Stepping in the shower, goosebumps crawled across my body as the hot water hit my pale skin. I wanted to get out today and explore, maybe even go and see Malon. I quickly wash my hair and turn off the water. I grab a towel from the rack and wrap it around my dripping wet body. I open the bathroom door and squeal at the sudden coldness. I run across across my room, grab my clothes, and run back to the bathroom and slam the door. I laugh at my childish act and dress myself. I put my hair up into a high pony tail and smile at how pretty I looked today.

I nod to myself and swing open my bedroom door. Stepping down the stairs, I hear Anju arguing with the mailman about some guy she was engaged to. Apparently, he had some curse placed on him and now he looks like a kid. I think Anju told me he went into hiding. I mean, I can see why. I quietly try to slip past Anju, but that didn't work very well.

"Where are you going, (Y/N)?" I hear Anju say.

I squeeze my eye shut, thinking that would hide me or something. I chuckle nervously and rub the back of my neck.

"I'm going to see an old friend today. Is that okay?" I ask innocently.

She sighs and nods.

"Just be back before the festival tonight." She says sternly.

I nod happily and run out the inn door. Anju was kinda like my mother, she cares for me like a mom would. But she can be kind of stern sometimes. It gets kinda annoying, but what are you gonna do? You can't force someone to change.

I happily skip through the busy town. Kids were running around, carpenters were working on some kinda of building, and the cute little dog in the middle of town was barking. I make my way to one of the guards and smile politely.

"May I please pass?" I ask.

He nods and moves out of my way. I nod as a thanks and walk into the bright field of Termina. I take a deep breath and close my eyes. The bright sun shined down on the field, making shadows light up and monsters flee. I giggle and make my way through the field, singing and humming on the way to Malon's farm. When I finally get there, I race up to her front door and knock softly. I here footsteps run up to the door and a sigh.

When the door opens, my friend Malon was standing there with a happy look on her face. Her blue orbs shined with happiness. Her orange locks layed perfectly on her shoulders. She gasps and pulls me into a bone crushing hug.

"Oh my goodness! It's been forever, (Y/N)!" She squeals.

I laugh and hug her back just as tight.

"How have you been Malon? It seems just like yesterday we were playing in the yard pretending to hunt aliens!" I snicker slightly.

Her smiling face turned into a serious one in seconds.

"They're real I tell you!" She sort of yells.

I make a 'are you kidding me' face. She rolls her eyes and drags me inside her house by my wrists. She sets me down in a chair and hands me a cup of tea. We chat for awhile. Long enough for the sky to become a orange-pink colour, lined with a light shade of purple.

"It's getting late and I need to get back. Do you think we could do this again?" I ask smiling.
"Of course we can!" She chirps.

I smile and wave to her before heading outside. I take off sprinting back to Clock town for the fireworks. The sun was setting fast, and you don't really want to be in Termina field at night. I wipe the sweat from my forehead and quickly run past the walls of Clock town. As I'm running to the inn, I see Anju waiting patiently for the fireworks to start. She sees me and yells out,

"(Y/N)! Where were you at!?"

I sigh and make my way over to the slightly angry women.

"Time slipped away. Sorry, Anju." I mumble.

We stand there in silence and then a firework goes off causing both of us to jump. We both look at each other and laugh. The fireworks started going off like crazy, the big ones were the prettiest. As Anju and I were watching, I see a shadow out of the corner of my eye. I decide to do the idiot thing and follow it. I walk by the bomb shop and past the stores. I look around, but it seemed like it was just my imagination. I was confused but decided to ignore it and go back to Anju.

We happily watched the fireworks until we got sleepy. We headed back to the hotel and I didn't even say good night. I just took off for my room. I walk into my room and see a box on the floor. Confused, I look out into the hall but see no one there. I quietly close my door and walk over to the neatly wrapped box. There was a card beside it. I pick it up and cautiously open it.

Dear (Y/N),
I decided to give this to you. Don't use this gift for evil or give this to anyone you don't trust. Don't let anyone know you have this unless you really trust them. Happy late birthday.

From,
Unknown

I walk over to the box and excitedly open it. When it was fully open, I tilt my head to the side in confusion. It was a mask. It was something I've never seen. I reach out to touch it but get shocked. I pull back from pain and rub my finger.

"What the heck was that?" I ask myself.

I peer back into the box and form my lips into a straight line. I look around the room cautiously and gulp. I carefully reach back for the mask, and this time, didn't get shocked. I sigh in relief as I pull the unique mask out of its box. I trace my finger over its delicate marks. Some were blue, and some were red. But in all honesty, I was quite fascinated by this mask. I smile to myself before standing up and placing the mask on one of the shelves in my closet. I quietly shut the doors and sigh. I pick up the empty box and place it in the corner on my room. I look in my dresser for my night gown and quickly put it on. I walk over to my squeaky bed and climb underneath the covers, my back facing the window. I look at my closet one more time before closing my eyes and falling asleep.
