Ch. 3: New Adventures

Lucy's POV

'Did I make the right decision?'

'Is it really okay to leave everything behind?'

Those thoughts just swarmed my head as I bought a ticket to leave Magnolia forever.

"Jeez I don't even know anymore..." I muttered under my breath as I stepped inside the train and tried to find a seat

Once I sat down, I just looked out of the window and thought about what happened back at the guild.

No one's POV

*Flashback to when Lucy was shining*

'What's happ-' Lucy thought

'Lucy..' Jude said in her mind

'Uggh wha-' Lucy groaned back

'Lucy dear, it's your father.' Jude repeated once again trying to wake Lucy up

'W-wha? How are you here!!' Lucy exclaimed in surprise

'Lucy I don't have a lot of time but I will explain everything to you as best as I can so ple-' Jude pleaded but luck wasn't on his side

'Why should I listen to someone who was arrogant and ignored and hurt their own child all these years without a care in the world!' Lucy shouted back to her father

'Lucy plea-' Jude tried again

'Huh? Why should I after all you've done to me ?' Lucy said

'Lucy it's about your mother!!' Jude finally exclaimed

'I- what?' Lucy started but stopped

'Okay now that you're listening let me start from the beginning.. Every since you were born, you were different from the other kids. Why? Because you were the first dragon reaper born in years.' Jude began

'D-dragon reaper?' Lucy asked

'Yes...'

'So what does this have to do with mom?' Lucy questioned

'You see, your mom... She just wanted a normal life, but after she learned about you and your power, she became greedy. She wanted to use your power to take over the world, but as a child, your power was a bit weak. She then put you through intense training to strengthen yourself. There were 4 stages to the training: the Physical stage, the Mental stage, the Emotion stage, and lastly the test. In the Physical stage, she would have her servants either throw different types of magic at you and have you counter them or make you do intense exercise for more than 2 hours. In the Mental stage, she would have you tied to a chair and many wires would be attached to your head. She then would power up her machine and make horrible incidents go through your mind to see if you could handle it and to see your reaction. Each day she logged down your progress and each day she drifted away from the real world...' Jude said sadly

'H-how can this happen? N-no mom was a good woman! She was nice and would never do that!!' Lucy exclaimed not believing her father's words

'Lucy please listen, I'm running out of time!' Jude said

'Okay.. What about the other stages?'

'In the Emotion stage, it was the same as the Mental stage except that she had more wires attached to your heart.
Lastly, there was the test. This one took the longest and she had to wipe your memory of anything that had to do with her being an evil mother and your training. You were put to the test to see how long it would take for you to activate your true power.' Jude described

'W-wait so those memories.. Of mom being nice? Reading to me? Those were all fake?' Lucy said with remorse

'Lucy dear I'm so-'

'Where were you while I suffered alone in this huh?!' Lucy finally shouted

'*sigh* I was the one that actually fed you and tried to keep you alive. I tried to stop your mother, but she was too far gone.. I'm sorry Lucy. I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me. All those memories of me mistreating you were an illusion.. I would never do that. I hope you find it in your heart to someday forgive me Lucy... As for your mother, after she erased your memory and implanted new ones in you, she left without a trace. No one knows where she went. Since I can't use magic, I never could remove those false memories. I am truly sorry Lucy.' Jude said as he whispered the last part

'It's fine. I have only two things to say to you. One, forgiving you right now, I can't do that. I don't even know if you're spouting lies!
I'm sorry, but until my mind is cleared, I can't forgive you. Two, what do I do now with this power?' Lucy replied

'I'd expect something like that to pop up soon.. Lucy, although your mother is missing, she might still be working on her plan for all I know! That's why I want you to protect yourself. Once you wake up, you will receive your old memories back and go through a transformation. In that transformation, you will know what to do and have what you will need to survive. I want you to stay in your guil-' Jude said but was stopped

'Can't do that. My guild mates think I'm weak so I'm going to leave and make them regret it in the future.' Lucy sneered

'Well then... I hope you find a guild, and please do quickly, and settle down. Then, I want you to always keep your profile low and head to the cave that's in Hibiki Forest. Someone will be-' Jude said but stopped

'Be what?' Lucy said

'Lucy I'm sorry but my time is up to talk to you. I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me and please remember to do what I've said.'

Lucy looked down and realized that she was slowly being taken back to reality.

'Wait! I still have many questions for you!'

It was too late though, but Jude's last words to her made her start to believe what he said and question her mom even more.

'The past cannot be changed, forgotten, edited or erased; it can only be accepted.'
