Ch. 5: Will you forgive me?

Holy crap 1k?!?! Thanks soooo much guys!!!!! Shout out to CupCake_nation_3000   for guessing the right person first! It was indeed the fabulous Gray. Oh and congrats to whoever thought it was Gray too. Anyways go check her out and read her stories! On with the show!

Gray's POV

"You...!" Lucy exclaimed

"L-Lucy wait a minute just let me speak." I said to her calmly

"Why should I talk to you! Your probably like that bastard back in Fairy Tail." Lucy sneered with venom lacing her voice

"Please...just listen Lucy. I really need to explain everything to you." I told her calmly afraid that she might attempt to kill me again

"..... Fine, but be quick. I've got other things to do than listening to your stupid story." She said monotonously

I felt a pang in my heart at what she said, but ignored her and led her to a nearby bench

"Okay let me first get this out to you. I am not your enemy Lucy. Just a friend."

'But I wish we could be more.' I thought

She nodded at me and her eyes told me to continue.

"Ever since Lissanna came back, I noticed that you have been ... shunned. I was always trying to reach out to you but you never noticed and Natsu and Erza would pull me away. Everyday was torturous because you were just drifting away from everything! It hurt me to see you like that and not the cheery Lucy I knew. Every time you felt pain, I felt it too, because I could never help you. I'm such a useless coward to let you feel this way and I'm so sorry Lucy. I'm so sorry." I told her as I looked down with my bangs covering my eyes in shame

I felt a tear slipped down my cheek as I clenched my jaw and thought of the horrible things Lucy went through. Then, I felt a hand on my shoulder as I looked up and wiped my eyes quickly not wanting her to see my tears.

Lucy's POV

As Gray finished his story, I felt a twinge in my heart.

'Maybe I shouldn't have judged him like the others.' I thought and placed my hand on his shoulder gently

"Gray, the thing is," I start but sigh, "the thing is that well... I'm not sure if I can forgive you. I mean, don't get me wrong, I believe you," He cracked a tiny smile at this, "but I don't know if I can forgive you right away. It's just that I have a hard time trusting people now that most of Fairy Tail betrayed me. Nothing will ever be the same after the incident." I told him bitterly while looking down at my lap

I then felt a hand on my cheek, making me look up directly into Gray's dark eyes.

"L-Lucy I want you to know that I'll be here for you from now on. I promise no matter what. Even if you push me away and tell me to leave, I'll always find you and stay by your side, because I never want you to feel alone ever again." He said shakily

I never thought I could ever feel again but after I heard his words, I felt a slight warmth crawl into my heart. It was strange yet familiar at the same time.

Before I knew it, my actions took control and I had my arms around Gray in an embrace.

"Thank you Gray. Thank you truly for telling me this," I whispered, "but I have to leave now and I think you do too.  There is something important that I have to do."

I then stood up and looked at Gray's expression once more before turning around and walking away towards the forest.

Gray's POV

'Arghh Gray! Do something, she's leaving!!!' I thought as I looked at her retreating figure

I then ran up to her and grabbed her wrist.

"Lucy wait...!"

She turned around quickly and looked at me.

"What Gray?" She asked and looked around at our surroundings

"Well..um.." I began but looked down

'Stop stuttering baka!' I thought angrily to myself

"The thing is that, I want to go with you wherever you are headed now. I just want to help you and protect you in the future." I said

I look up to see Lucy smiling at me. A true and genuine smile that stopped existing when Lissanna came back.  Then, as soon as the smile appeared on her face, it disappeared instantly.

"Gray, we've got company." She said monotonously

'Great, back to square one again.' I thought and sighed while looking around trying to find the enemies

Slowly,  mages from all corners came out and surrounded us. They all had eyeless black masks with dark cloaks adorning their bodies and a psychotic smile plastered on their face.

"Dragon Reaper: Reaper's Scythe," I heard Lucy whisper in a tone that was barely heard and a humongous dark scythe appeared in her hands 

As soon as she said that, the mages began to attack us ferociously.

"Ice Make: Hammer!" I exclaimed and a hammer appeared in front of me whacking most of the mages out of my way

I looked over to see how Lucy was doing and was immediately surprised. Her blade had an eerily red glow around it whenever it made contact with a mage. As we defeated the enemies, we managed to get cornered back to back.

"Gray, I'll explain everything soon, but after this we're heading to Hibiki forest." Lucy said and smirked as she saw my surprised expression

'Yosh!' I thought and we launched at the mages together

So um how was that...? HAPPY New Years by the way !! ;)) I was planning to post this on New Years as a gift for you all! I apologize if you thought that I just didn't want to update though and was a lazy ass.....
