Probably not the best move I have ever made, I thought as I flew desperately towards the only person who I thought could help me out of this mess. Max must have something available to fix this, maybe a memory potion or time telerporter. Something to make Drake forget that he ever had a mate or stop me from meeting him in the first place. I don't want to be dominated by that annoying, controlling, jerk-face.
I flew, more like crashed, into Max's workshop. Max had his back turned to me as he fiddled with some potions. He continued to have his back turned, even with all the ruckus I made with my landing.
"Max, Max, MAX," I called trying to get some of his attention. Finally I just went up to him and tapped his shoulder.
He jerked, nearly dropping the flask which was in his hands. He looked around and saw me and gave an apologetic smile. He took off his black, fuzzy earmuffs and started to apologize.
"Sorry......Serena right? I couldn't hear you through these magic cancelling earmuffs I made. They literally cancels out all sound, including magic spells, before it reaches your body. Extremely useful when you are making delicate spells and gadgets and can't be distracted." Max rambled.
I would have let him continue to ramble if it wasn't for the raised hair on the back of my neck that was letting me know Drake was on his way.
"Look no harm no foul. I need help. I have a rampaging Dragon on my back who is going to smack me to the netherworld if you don't have anything to help me." I spurted out panicked.
"Dragon...tough order. What did you do to piss of a Dragon, not a great idea. Well I may have a few items that may help you. Its not everyday that I get to test my stuff on a dragon." He said with a wild glint and amusement in eyes and voice. He poured his flask into a smaller vile and handed it to me. Then he went to a few shelves in the back and grabbed a few other things while muttering to himself.
"No-Tracking Bracelet, Forget me yes flower...no that won't work not strong enough to surpass their immune system...Invisible ring...No their sense of smell would still work. Wing wrap gum....That may work...Mercy-May-I smoke. That may be it." He walked back to me and shoved the bracelet, gum, and other vile, into my hands along with the vile I already had.
"Okay, there you have a paralyzing potion, Mercy-May-I smoke, No-Tracking Bracelet and Wing Wrap gum. The first two are potions, non of which will work long against a enraged dragon. However the Mercy-May-I will make someone more inclined to let you off easy. The No-Tracking Bracelet scrambles your signature making it more difficult to track you and the Wing Wrap gum is something you shoot at the wings of a dragon and it will expand and bind his wings." Max explained with an excited air.
"Max that you so much. Your a life saver. How much for these?"
"50 shekels and a report on how these items worked."
"Great....wait you have tested these before right?" I said with trepidation. The worst thing a witch can do is volunteer to be an others test subject.
"They all should work in theory.....But, take the earmuffs as additional compensation." He said as he handed me his earmuffs. "That way if these don't work you can at lease drown out your screams." He said with a little chuckle. I tossed on the bracelet and earmuffs as he pushed me out of his studio.
Sooo no long term solutions, but I can use these items to buy time while I try to research a spell to break the bond. I hopped onto Kiwi and once again took flight
I flew to the restricted and obscure magic library located on the edge of campus and set to work. But no matter what book I pulled, "Silve Mate History," "Mate Location," or "Dragon Maintenance 101," there was nothing to help break a bond. In fact, most confirmed that they are forever and indestructible.
I was continuing to fall into despair when I noticed a tall shadow fall over me. With trepidation I turned around to see Drake look at me with a mixture of anger and confusion. He kept on moving his lips but no sound came out. Than I realized I still have the earmuffs on!!!
Panicking I tossed the paralyzing potion his way and dashed. Maybe if I fly far enough away, like the moon, the bond will snap. Kiwi and I flew like our life depended on it.
The potion did not last long. Thanks Max, as I saw Drake storm out of the library and transform into his dragon self. Let me tell you flying and throwing spells at the same time is really difficult. Especially when the other can control the wind and earth and have them fight against you I thought as I battled winds and tree limbs.
People gaped as they watched the dragon follow me, right on my tale. As a last ditch effort I shot out the Wing Wrap gum at him. In a blast of purple, it expanded and wrapped around his big silver wings.
Drake faltered, fell a couple of feet. However, I imagined his snarl and roar as he spread out his wings and the gum snapped. Max you were and are no HELP. I cursed.
I would have probably tried a few more last ditch efforts if it was not for the tree I happened to fly into. falling through branches and foliage is not fun. Landing is worst. The last this I saw was a large silver mass stand over me as I fell into unconsciousness.
Drake's Pov
I am going to smack that cute little but untill she can not stand for a week I thought as I stalked out of the gym. First she yell at me in public, than she actually attacks me with her magic. While I am impressed with her gale, I will teach her who is in charge.
I tried to locate her through our bond but something was scattering her signal.
Headmaster, I mentally connect to.
Yes Drake. What is wrong?
I am currently trying to locate my mate who has applied measure to be prevent tracking,
Let me contact the faculty to see if anyone else has seen her..... Oh yes, Librarian Glass sees her in the Obscure Magi library.
Thank you, I will go get her now.
I walked into the library and saw her hunched over a few books in"Serena, Serena, SERENA!!!" I called. She didn't even flinch. The librarian started to glare until she noticed my own glare and flinched. "Serena, Look at ME." She continued to ignore me.
As I walked closer to, reaching out my hand to touch her shoulders. She finally notice me and turns around. She is wearing earmuffs, I figure out. Before I could reach and toss the earmuffs away Serena throws a vile at me and runs.
AAAAaaaagh, I thought as I expanded my power and aura to suppress the potion and chase after her. I see her on that horrible broom that she can barely fly and change to fly after her.
She continues to try to send spells at me and send restraining spells right back at her. She throws some sort of exploding tar which tangles up my wings. With another roar I break the tar and continue to follow her. Unfortunately, or fortunately for her, she and that horrible broom crashed into a tree. I continue to walk up to her in dragon form as she falls unconscious. I pick her up in my talons and fly her back to our room.
I tie her legs to bed, just waiting for her to wake up. She is about to learn the lesson of her life.
