My Hero: Chapter 6

The splatfest was approaching inkopolis! The marvelous singing group the squid sisters announced the theme that morning, pancakes vs waffles! It reminded Matty of that morning with Sara....but what doesn't remind him of Sara?
Matty woke up to the wonderful smell of pancake batter and bacon. "What?! I didn't make pancakes?" He then remembered that Sara had stayed overnight. "She's so sweet.... I better go check and make sure it's going okay"As he walked out of his room towards the kitchen, the aroma and air had the smell of burning. "Matty?! You're awake!! Uh-surprise...sorta?" The pancakes as well as the bacon were burning in the pan as she frantically tried to flip them.
Matty sighed at the thought of that time. It was the day they had gotten ice cream and watched the sunset, the day he knew he loved Sara. But none of that mattered now. It had been forever, and Matty accepted the fact that Sara wouldn't ever come back. He and Ruby had gotten a giant group of inklings to invade the octoling base. Matty and Ruby decided that they would do it during splatfest, so everyone was busy and happy. They didn't want to worry anyone else who wasn't fighting.
A couple days pass by...
Matty and Ruby decided to meet the team over at the entrance to octo valley. The rest of inkopolis was at the squid sisters concert, waiting to fight for their team. Now, it was time to fight for a team of their own. Ruby tapped on Matty's shoulder. "I'm-not sure I wanna do this.. We should go back" "What?! We've gotten this far and I am not willing to go back." Ruby blushed and stepped back. "I need to tell you something. I haven't really been honest with you...."
