Allie
The three of us scrambled around the apartment to get ready for work. Ashton had found his way back to the living room, sitting with the guys as they talked with each other. Each time I walked past them the went silent, making me grow uneasy. When the three of us were fully dressed I lingered in the hallway for a minute, trying to get at least a part of their conversation.
"I don't know what to do, she will hardly even look at me." Ashton's voice spoke softly, he sounded so hurt. "I tried to tell her that I came back that night, but she shut me down."
He came back? I always thought he walked out and didn't return. I admit I acted irrationally after slightly calming down. I ran to my house, packed my bags, and bought the ticket to New York for the next night. I never acted well after a bad moment. When my dad left, I ended up in LA with them two days later.
"Do you think she figured out that the song was about her?" Luke spoke next.
They wrote a song about me? Which song? I had listened to almost everyone of their songs, and none clicked
"She listened to it, and loved it, but I don't think it clicked with her, which is crazy, there are lines that she should have picked up on." Calum said. "I sent it to her and she claimed it was one of her favorites, though it made her cry."
He was the one who sent me Youngblood before they released it, saying I deserved to hear it all before it released. Before I could think, Ashley came up behind me, screaming in my ear, causing me to jump forward into the living room, blowing my cover.
Another glance at the clock caused me to panic. 11:15, fifteen minutes before we had to be at the salon. The three of us opened up the salon after being certified. We bought it off an older lady who's hand had become too shaky to continue working there. It helped pay the bills, as well as the revenue from a videos.
"We have to run, but make yourself at home, or let yourselves out. If you hang out we'll be back by five." Alex explained, pulling her hair into a loose bun.
"We don't really know what to do, we have this week off. We planned on sleeping for a week." Michael laughed.
"There's food in the fridge, or take out numbers all over the place, just please no crazy messes." Ashley laughed along with Mikey.
"If someone's underwear is hanging from the ceiling fan again, I'm pushing all of you off the balcony." I joked before turning on my heel.
The three of us basically ran to work. It was only a block away, but it was a Sunday, which happened to be one of our busiest days of the week. Alex unlocked the door to the hair salon and we quickly got to work cleaning up the place before customers showed up. Right as I finished up sweeping, customers came through the door.
I had gotten to work, cutting hair, doing dye jobs, and talking people down from post-breakup changes. It was crazy pretty much all day, and my feet were beginning to ache. 5 o'clock slowly crept up on us and finally the day was over. I flicked off the open sign and began to clean up with the other two.
"So, how are you?" Ashley questioned me as I swept up any remaining hair.
"I'm fine." I shrugged, avoiding eye contact.
"Really? Because I haven't seen you cry since Infinity War came out and today I've almost seen you cry twice." Alex pointed out as she wiped the mirrors.
I let out an exaggerated sigh as I placed the broom in the supply closet.
"It's just overwhelming, I haven't even thought about seeing them again, and now they are in our apartment, possibly eating all of our food. Not to mention I can't look at Ashton without wanting to cry, and they apparently wrote a song about me." I threw my arms up in the air, falling onto my chair.
"Luke told us about it while you were hiding on the balcony, once Ashton left the room he was telling us how you inspired the song." Alex spoke slowly, afraid of my reaction. "If I knew everything before, I would have figured it out too."
"What song was it, and why would I be the inspiration behind it?" I cocked an eyebrow towards my friends.
"Ghost of You." They spoke in sync.
I thought about the song, remembering how I did tell Calum that it made me cry when he sent the album. I thought about the words. We did dance around the house, and I would run away from Ashton, while he chased me through the halls. The night my dad left, I ran away, ending up at Ashton's door. It was cold and raining, and all I wore was a pair of shorts and my Led Zepplin t-shirt.
I began to shake, emotions overcame all of my senses. I couldn't deny that those words related to me, but why? Ashton didn't even try to reach out after our friendship came to a screaming halt. Why wait four years to write a song about missing me?
"Apparently he hasn't been the same since you left." Alex spoke up, pulling me from my thoughts. "When the two of you were on the balcony, the guys explained how bad Ashton felt when you left."
"Did they tell you why I left?" My voice cracked, just thinking about that night broke my heart all over again.
"They said you got into a huge fight, which we already knew, but we never asked what it was exactly about, we knew better than to ask you." Ashley said, "You were to broken to ever talk about it, which we respected."
"I think it's time I tell you.."
