Autumn woke up really early the next morning. Brian had already left for his part time job as an executive assistant to a major business corporation. She got up and walked to the bathroom to take a shower. She walked out 25 minutes later with a towel wrapped around her. She quickly put on a pair of jeans and a red shirt with black flats. She sat down on a stool the was facing the mirror and pulled out her make up mag. She looked in the mirror and turned her face to the side. She saw a purple and black bruise from where Brian had slapped her. She covered her bruise with make up as best as she could. When she was done, she placed her make up back into her make up bag and grabbed her purse with her keys.She made her way out of the door and got in her car. She drove down to the hospital and walked up to the front desk.
"Can I help?" the nurse at the front desk asked
"Yes, I was here yesterday and I brought a young man with me. I was wondering if I could see him?"
"What's his name?"
"...........I don't know", she said a little embarrassed
"Well i'm sorry honey" the nurse said looking up at her "I can't let anyone in if they don't know who they're going to see or if they're not related to the patient"
"I understand...... Thank you" she said a little disappointed
She grabbed her purse and started walking back towards the door.
"Autumn?" someone asked as they got her attention
She stopped walking and turned around. She saw Dr. Brown walking towards her.
"Hi Dr. Brown"
"Hi, what are you doing here?"
"I just came to see the guy that I brought in here yesterday, but I didn't know his name so I wasn't able to give the information to the nurse at the front desk"
"Oh, well he isn't awake yet. But if you want to go see him you can"
"Really?.......Thank you", Autumn said gratefully
Dr. Brown led Autumn to the elevator. They got in and he pushed the button to the 5th floor. The door opened as they stepped out and walked to room 315.
"He still unconscious right now" Dr. Brown said as he opened the door
"Ok", Autumn said as she walked in
She walked up to the chair that was next to his bed and sat down. She looked at him and saw scratches and bruises on his face that was caused by the accident.
"I'll just leave you guys alone" Dr. Brown said as he walked out, closing the door behind him
"Well I know you can't hear me, but I just really wanted to say sorry for hitting you yesterday"
She continued to have small conversation with him while he was still unconscious so that he could feel comfortable. She told him about her life and her husband. She also told him about what she really wanted to do and what she wanted to become. It was sad that she felt more comfortable telling these things to a complete stranger who she had almost killed the day before, than to tell her own family who had known her her entire life.
She was sharing her dreams about being a working women instead of a house wife when her phone started ringing. She reached in her bag and grabbed her phone. She looked at the caller ID and saw that it was her best friend Michele calling. She got up and walked into the bathroom that was in the room so that she wouldn't disturb him.
"Hello" she said as she placed the phone to her ear
"Hey bestie!" Michele shouted on the other line "I haven't talked to you since the wedding. How's everything going with the newly weds?"
