Autumn's POV
I woke the next day and looked around the room. Nothing seemed familiar. I tried to get up but was quickly pulled down by a pair a hands wrapped around my waist. I looked to my left and saw diggy sound asleep.
"We must've fell asleep while watching the movie", I thought to myself as I slowly pulled away from his grip
I grabbed my shoes and my bag and made my way to my car. I drove home and saw Brian's car in the driveway. I don't know why he's home right now, but I really don't want to deal with his shit.
I parked into the driveway and got out. I walked into the house and saw Brian sitting on the couch with bloodshot eyes and dried tear stains on his face.
Before I could say anything, he ran up to me and passionately kissed me on the lips. I was so caught off guard that I didn't know what to do at first. He grabbed me by the waist and pulled my body closer to his.
After a few more seconds, he finally pulled away.
"We need to talk", he said as we both sat on the couch
"I know that I haven't been treating you like a husband should, and I'm sorry for that. Everything you said yesterday was true, and I've come to the realization that you're the best thing that has ever happened to me and I was stupid to not see that til now. I promise to love and adore you. To be the one that will only make you cry tears of joy. The one that you'll be proud to call your husband. I guess what I'm saying is......will you please forgive me?", he said as tears fell from his eyes
I was completely speechless. I've wanted to hear these words for so long, but now I didn't know whether I should accept it or not. I took in long deep breath as I thought about the answer. After a few minutes of silence, I had finally come up with answer.
"......yes I forgive you" I said even though I wasn't sure that I actually forgave him
A huge smile spread across his face as he pulled me into a tight hug.
"I'll never let you go" he whispered in my ear before letting me go
There was something about the way that he said it that made me think that he was very serious.
I made my way upstairs and took a long hot shower. After I was done I put on some grey sweatpants and a black tank top. I grabbed my purse from my bag and sent a text to diggy apologizing for leaving without saying anything. I plugged my phone on the charger and climbed into bed. I had nothing else better to do so I might as well sleep.
3 months later
It's been 3 months and Brian has really changed. We have been spending a lot more time together and he was even ok with me getting a part time job at the local hospital as a receptionist. I mainly worked the night shifts and whenever they asked me to work. Diggy and I talked from time to time, but it was nothing serious. We were still just really good friends.
I was getting ready for another shift at the hospital when my phone started ringing. I grabbed it and accepted the call.
"Hello?", I said as I finished tying my shoes
"Autumn........it's aunt mary", she said on the other line
She was my dad's oldest sister.
"Hey aunt mary. What's wrong?"
"It's your father.......", she said as her voice cracked
"What's wrong with my dad?", I asked as my heart beat began to speed up
"He's at the hospital right now. He just had a major heart attack"
"Oh my God" I said as I dropped my phone and grabbed my keys. I spedd down the road to the hospital.
I pulled into the parking lot and ran to the lady at the front desk.
"How may I help?" the lady at the front desk asked
"I'm looking for Michael Davis"
"And what is your relationship to this patient?" She asked, causing Autumn's patience to run thin
"I'm his daughter" she replied
"He's in room 306 on the 4th floor"
She quickly ran into elevator and went all the way to the 4th floor. She quickly stepped out of the elevator and roamed the halls until she found room 306. She opened the door and saw her aunt sitting next to her dad who was awake at this point. She ran over to him and hugged him tightly. He was caught off guard but hugged ger back when he realized who it was.
"How are you feeling?" She said as she let go of him and sat down on the edge of the bed
"I'm fine baby girl"
"No he's not" aunt mary interjected
"The doctor said that he had a major heart attack due to stress and poor diet"
"Mind your business woman" her dad said as he rolled his eyes at his sister
"I'm just trying to help you" she said as she got up and left the room to make a phone call
"So how have you been baby girl"
"I've been doing great. Me and Brian are doing well and communicating more"
"So does that mean that grandbabies are in my future?" He asked with the biggest smile on his face
"Maybe......"
My aunt walked in with a look of disappointment on her face
"What's wrong Mary?" My dad asked
"It's nothing, but I have to go. I'll come visit tomorrow" she said as she grabbed her purse and walked out
"That was weird, but I have to go to work. I'll see you later" I said as I gave him a kiss on the cheek annd walked out of his room. I got on the elevator and made my way out of the hospital. I drove down to the hospital that I worked at and started my shift.
