My sister joined me on the floor, picking up the Barbie dolls that lay dormant beside me. She was only three at the time, her innocence still pure even being the creatures that we truly are.

A shock ran through me as I heard a terrified voice echoing from down stairs, "No, no get away from me." A loud bang rang out from the direction of the kitchen below my sister and my bedroom. I bent down to my little sister. "Stay here," I whispered into her ear. My feet tiptoed down the stairs, slow and cautious of the unknown noises. A large grey hound growled in the centre of the living room, my father bearing his sharp canines. "Mum? Dad?" I mumbled in confusion. "Crimson get up stairs no-" my mother was interrupted as a sphere of flames narrowly missed her. I spun and hurried up the stairs to protect my sister when the door to my brother's room opened and his adrenaline rushes face stepped out. "THEY'RE HERE ,THEY'RE HERE!" My sister screamed as she ran into my brother's arms. I could sense the flames spreading throughout the wooden boards of the house. What do i do? I thought to myself, panic sizzling through my veins.

Screams erupted from downstairs, the flames crawling up the steps towards my siblings and I. My brother lifted out sister up into his arms. "Run into mum and dads room Crimson, NOW!" he demanded, I obeyed. I launched down the hall into my parent's bedroom escaping the flames. I wasn't afraid of the flames -that is because I am immune to them-, but of the mysterious being that may have been leaking within the house. "NO!" My brother yelled, a piercing scream of a young girl burning my ears. I turned towards the sound of my frightened family. The fire grew, a large mass of fire hurtling towards my siblings, engulfing them in a fiery light. "NO," I yelled towards them. Darkness took over my vision as I fell into a dark void of sleep.

My eyes flipped open, chest heaving. My body sat up straight in the bed, a layer of sweat covering my forehead. My hand gripped a dagger, Instincts on high alert.I blinked hard and shook my head. I dropped my hand and used my sleeve to wipe away the seat plastered on my forehead. A click forced my door open. Pink hair slipping through the doorway. Crystal held up a backpack that appeared to be full of supplies. "Rise and shine assassin, it's your first day of school." Each time we start a new assignment that involves me going to school, the first day always starts as if I am a child and Crystal is my mother.

A sky blue dress that ended above the knee and buttons undone a little too far down, was the uniform which I will have to suffer with for the next few weeks.
I prepped my face with some thick makeup; I wasn't a fan of makeup, though my alias is, so I have to suck it up and force myself not to scratch my face for the next twelve hours. I slipped a small sheath across the side of my bra and shoved a blade into it. On the sole of my shoes, I pulled off a  rectangular shape of rubber revealing a small and secret hole which hid another blade. It appeared as if I was wearing an ordinary shoe, and luckily enough for my sakes I couldn't feel it.

I slumped down stairs to the kitchen. Crystal was shoving things into my bag, probably information. I yawned and stretched cracking the stiff bones in my back. "Restless sleep?" she asked. "Usual nightmare, about...that night" I replied. She frowned. "Well, you better get going. You look...weird, very preppy," she grumbled in disgust. "Don't remind me," I said, she giggled and I grabbed my back pack, a floral coloured bag with brown leather straps. I sighed and flung it over my shoulders. "Yeah I know but its what we do, you know what happens if we don't do this, what the Markers will do to us," Crystal sighed. "Yeah, they'll tie us up, torture us and finally put us out of our misery." My cousin mumbled in agreement. "Quickly before you leave give me the voice" Crystal said. I cleared my throat. "Hi, I'm Amber Shrine, I'm new here. See that guy over there, he's soooo hot."My voice squeaked. Crystals face scrunched up like she had bitten into a lemon, "Well you got it alright, I'll talk to you later." She turned away putting her attention back into her food. I gave her a smirk before heading out the door.

The school was relatively normal, minus the staggering amount of werewolf teenagers. I could smell them, their pungent odour stung my nose. It seemed that a lot of the students had some sort of supernatural heritage, the lack of human population was odd. I started to feel light headed from the amount of energy. I kept moving regardless. I headed towards the principles office, keeping an eye out for my target.

When I entered the principles office I could smell a strong scent of an animal, another werewolf. This mission was going to be a strange one. "Hello Amber, welcome to Gering High, it's a pleasure to have you joining us here," His grey eyes shone with an old power. "Now, by the looks of your grades and past attendance, you will get through this school with ease. Oh and just before you go I have signed one of our students to help you around, guide you and be your  Blaze who's outside now will look after you" the principal said walking in and sitting down. I looked outside and saw girls back. "Thank you, sir," I said. I left the office and the girl spun around.

Blaze had bright brown eyes, fair hair, a flowery dress and pink flats. "Hey Amber I'm Blaze, well you know that I'm going to be your best friend and we are going to really get along," she said smiling and giggling. I put on a fake smile. Oh great. I thought. One of these girls, fun. i thought. "C'mon ill introduce you to everyone" she said dragging me around.

I met five other people. Kylie, Olivia, Scarlet, Danny and Jenny.  They were all dressed like me, with thick makeup, slutty outfits and too short to even clothes. "So Amber, how many boyfriends have you had?" Olivia asked. "None, never really found a guy who was nice to me," I said, all the girl's faces dropped." what? omg, we need to get this girl a guy" Jenny said. "Guys seriously you don't need to," I said but they were focused on talking about body types and what they look like. telling me about the hottest, ugliest, nicest, meanest and most off limits boys in the school. On the outside, it looked like I cared, on the inside I wanted to just walk away.

A few hours later it was lunch. The last few hours gave me a headache from the annoyance. Pretending to be opposite from what I am is just annoying how would you feel? The girls and I stood in a circle on the back oval. We, well more like they were talking about gossip, about the group of werewolves who sassed their way through peoples territories. I wasn't listening until I heard something. "...Yeah and I think it was something to do with the Marking pack, the assassins" one of the girls said. "The Markers pack" I budded in quickly correcting them. All the girls looked at me. "What? I know stuff" I said. They went back to talking about makeup and hair styles.

I felt something hit my back hard. I had the feeling to pull my daggers out and swipe but I held in the instinct. I turned and saw a basketball at my feet, I bent down to grab it, someone else bent down as well. We collided heads. I stood up. "Sorry," we both said at the same time. He put his hand on my shoulder to help me up. I felt a warm tingling on my shoulder where he touched me. My heart started pounding. I looked up at him.

He was tanned with light brown hair, he had green eyes that looked a little brown, his body was shaped with muscles and his smile was the most beautiful thing ever. He looked at me the same way. I realised my mouth was open. My creatures screamed at me to approach him. "M-ma-" he started to say, the girls grabbed my arm "Come on Amber," she said dragging me away, I looked back at him and he looked sad I was leaving. I had never felt an emotion that strong, connection and feelings overpowering. "Who was that?" I asked them. They looked over and their mouths wide. "He is the hottest, greatest guy in the school, he's in our grade and he's TOTALLY OFF LIMITS" they kept saying. "His names Jake, Jake Nimen, he's totally hot, I really like him," Olivia said, I had the feeling I wanted to strangle her for saying she liked him. WHATS GOING ON WITH ME?  I thought.

I started to feel a little dizzy, then I realised. "I don't feel so good," I said. "Really?" Blaze said. "I think I might go to the sick bay and go home," I said. They nodded and said ok. I headed down to the sick bay and they said I could go home. When I got to the edge of the woods I vampire sped to the house, it took around 30 seconds to get there, that a long time compared to what I can do.

I raced into the house and leaned against the wall. I doubled over and started breathing heavily. "CRIMSON? Crimson is that you?" I heard. Crystal came down the stairs. "Oh my blade Crimson w-whats happening?" she asked holding me, she pulled me to the lounge and sat me down. I breathing was heavy and shallow. "Here take this," she said handing me a cup of blood she was drinking. I took a sip and instantly felt calmer. My heart was still racing though.

"What happened?" she asked. Then I told her,  "Th-th-the-the target, h-he's m-my mate".
