You guys probably thought I was dead. I'm not and here's a new chapter! This book is coming close to the end. For real this time. The diary ends along with Nikki's life.

16 April 2046

I really need to stop losing this diary. I'm quite frankly, very sad today. Kristen is off to a dance college and Daniel boarded a plane to Oxford university yesterday. Now it's just me and Brandon again.

The house is very quiet without them. I just went into Kristen's room, and I couldn't recognise it without all her belongings.

Only her desk, her bed and her empty bedside cabinet are what's left. A book on the bed caught my eye.

I sat down on the bed and opened it. It was a photo album. With a huge lump in my throat, I began flipping through it.

The tears clinging onto my eyelids blurred my vision when I saw a photo of her trying on pointes for the first time.

Then I saw something that made me cry. A picture of her as a five year old, on the beach, looking at a seashell. There is an expression of absolute wonder on her tiny face.

Brandon must have heard me crying, because he opened the door with another photo album under his arm. His eyes were red as well. He spotted the album on my lap.  "Daniel made one too." He said with a shaky voice and sat next to me.

"Let's go through them." I said.

"Together." He replied and held my hand. The next twenty minutes were spent looking through the albums and crying.

The message they left at the back was the best.

"Dear mom and dad. Thank you for all the years of love, laughs and adventures that you gave us.

There were times that we put you through hell growing up, and you never held a grudge on them. Not even once.

You are the best parents a kid could ask for, and I'm proud to be your offspring.

We'll always visit you, and make you proud. You are going to be wonderful grandparents.

Love, Dan and Kristy"

I am so proud of them. I really am. We cried so hard that it concerned Lucy, our dog. She came in with her tail between her legs and whimpered at us.

I held her tightly and she licked the tears off my face. Brandon let me rest my head on his shoulder, and I hugged him fully, letting Lucy go.

Our twins are flying on their own now. No more safety nets. They're ready. Their wings are strong and they can take on the world.
